Forget about the Volt. This one is a game-changer!

I hope the wait lists aren't too long yet.

Re: 2009 Pontiac G3 coming to the US

This is more reason why GM should just put all of its brands under one gigantic roof.

BPG dealers are right to ask for a fuel efficient car because without one, they have no sales. You can't compare Pontiac to BMW... People are willing to pay sticker (which most likely has a nice profit built in) for BMWs, but people still want to pay below sticker for a Pontiac. BMW owners will pay an arm and a leg to have their oil changed at the dealer, but many Pontiac ownwers scoff at the dealer's oil change price and will take their cars to Jiffy Lube. So how is a BPG dealer to survive without a larger supply of cars?

Personally, I like the G3 more than the Aveo, and the G3 certainly looks like a mini-Vibe. Pontiac is already damaged goods, and given today's economy, GM can not turn it into a one or two vehicle brand and still keep it (and the dealer network) profitable.

If GM (and many Pontiac die-hards here) want to see Pontiac as a RWD-only/sporty brand, give Buick the G5 rebadge. I know - dumb idea.

Why not put different suspention in g3, bigger breaks, maybe 1.4l turbo engine so that it could be fun to drive. This way G3 would be way better then aveo and you can charge people more for it. Not just another crap like aveo that is just pure junk.
The G3 is based upon the brand new Aveo model that isn't actually available for sale yet, correct? How are you so certain GM has not done any handling tweaks whatsoever? We all realize this car is a stopgap rebadge that wasn't planned from the ground up. How much can you really expect from a roughly $10,000 econobox? I'd NEVER own a car in this class no matter how "well" it handles. Sorry, Fit does not equal "fun" in my vocabulary.

lol every car that gm produces is stop gap. When are we going to get one that is not???? This is pure crap. Pontiac needs a small car. Hey gm look at mini??? do you see how they sell small fun to drive fuel efficient cars for $20K+. No i guess not. We will get korean crap aveo. You have Chevy that will sell $10k cars. That is not what pontiac should do. Why have two same cars competting with each other? then why have pontiac? How about having something like mini that does not go against aveo. You know GM management is just stupid. No matter how much money you give them they can not manage brands.

I mostly agree with you. A Pontiac G3 isn't the worst thing in the world but the fact that is is a simple rebadge of one of the worst cars on the market in any category is a REAL problem. I would happily drive a Fit (if it was made by GM) but I wouldn't touch a G3 or Aveo with a 10 ft pole. I actually think the G3 is the best looking of the 3 but under the skin it is nothing to write home about.

Travesty. This is proof that GM has no idea what they are doing. Instead of spending money to rebadge the Aveo, they could have spent that money to make the G6 and the G8 better cars. This was completely un-necessary.

Only the current G5, coming G3 and out going Torrent are stop gap. There is no way the Solstice, G8, G6(especially coupe and convertible) and all new Vibe are stop gap. You're correct at the $20K pricepoint, but at $10K who really cares? Does anyone that frequents GMI even own an Aveo? Not many true car "enthusiasts" ever would. This is a non-issue, just reason for so called car people to complain.

Kill Pontiac NOW. The dealers still have GMC and Buick, and begin incorporating Saturn to take the place of Pontiac.

Why give people reason to complain???? If people complain there is something wrong. And when most people complain there is something terribly wrong. I know what you are saying about $10k car. You can not expect much for $10K. and i do not. But this is why we have chevy. Their job is to sell affordable cars at high volume. We do not need pontiac to do that. Why have pontiac??? why cant pontiac sell $20k cars that are fun to drive and that people want to buy. Nobody wants to go out there and say i want to buy g3. it is amazing car. lol. you know. But now imagine if pontiac had that chevy beat with 1.4l turbo. Do you think that people would complain about this car?

1. UnAmerican....the government shouldn't decide what sells. GM should build what sells and worry about the consequences later.

2. They should be busy selling the massive inventory that they have of G6s, Lucernes, Yukons, and Sierras (all the same trim level and same color!). If they aren't, then they shouldn't be in business. Between the whiney dealers and socialist unions, I am already half a Toyota fan.
