Pontiac G3 Comes State-Side!

they will never make the money back on the cost for the mold to make that grille. i love pontiac. but unless they have a all rwd bmw fighting fleet of real sports cars pontiac is dead. i mean the G5 should have the turbo engine to make the pontiac image and be faster than the SS cobalt. at least if they gave the G3 a heavy duty sway bar package over the aveo that would make better sense in the pontiac line.

I offer three reasons for this:

1. CAFE
2. CAFE
3. CAFE

Yet another example of why the government should stop mandating fuel economy standards. People aren't just going to walk up and buy these happily, instead GM and its dealers will have to spend precious resources to market and sell these cars.

If anything, I'm surprised they didn't consider the 3 door version available in other markets.

Pontiac is dead.

People will willingly and happily buy these cars because of a few reasons: The economy sucks, the price of fuel sucks, people are turning onto more efficient cars (ever heard of the green movement?), and some people are *gasp* actually happy to not buy extravagant things. Face it, the era of mainstream muscle is DEAD.

The muscleheads on this forum are a dying breed. The future of performance lies with cars like the Cobalt SS and Solstice GXP. Cars like the G3 will become the new mainstream. Get over yourselves. Move on with the times.

And this is where joining Saturn to B-P-G dealers makes sense. Saturn can have its model of an Aveo, and Pontiac can keep building more performance oriented vehicles.

I agree, it implies a cry for help!! It's almost a pathetic admission that GM is incapable of creating any original thinking. You have to dedicate resources and time to properly shape a car so it will be appealing to the public. Instead, GM saved a lot of money just drilling holes in the fender. To add insult to injury, the fake vents at Auto Zone look better.

Anybody remember the Turbo Sunbird? It kicked ass!! GT packages for all models. even the 6000 had the STE package. You could get a handling package on all models.

It was a phase. After almost dying in the crash, I figured I'd just get something small and slow that was fun to drive. Everyone suggested the Fit, and I got interested. I was also figuring that I didn't want to have a car payment again after not having one with the Accord after it was paid off (spent on my extra money on the supercharger and finally modding it after five years of payments) for so long.

But then I was told by a friend about the GTO. Researched it, checked prices, finally test drove... and fell in love. My "manliness" came back, and I wanted a fast car again. And the GTO was even faster than the Accord... all for a measely $15K more than my insurance check. It's a pretty easy car payment since the loan was just for that extra $15K, and I've been able to mod her for more power as well.

PS There's forced induction kits for the Fits too... so they have the potential to be "tire shredding" too... just not as much as the GTO and its sorry pizza cutter sized rears.

I partially agree. I think the new Opel Corsa should be brought here now as the Saturn Corsa(or another name....Cosmos, comes to mind. ). Pontiac does not need a subcompact at all.
