Re: Pontiac G3 Comes State-Side!

Nothing wrong with car itself.
The problem is GM putting a Pontiac badge on it.

I'd NEVER own a car in this class no matter how "well" it handles. Sorry, Fit does not equal "fun" in my vocabulary.
The Fit is insanely more fun to drive than the Versa, Aveo, and Yaris. Infinitely. I've driven multiple Fit and Edmunds loved their last generation Fit in their long-term testers.

I can say, with confidence, that the 2007 Aveo Rental I had was one of the worst cars I've ever driven, even for a subcompact.

the car market right now is cheap, fuel efficient cars. The Vibe is probably pontiac's biggest buzz model right now. How do you think Pontiac dealers keep the lights on?

Either shut the up, or go shell out the cash for a new G8 right now. Put up or shut up.
I have a car that is less than 2 years old in my garage. It's also a Honda, because I thought Honda put more effort into the new Civic than Chevy did with the Cobalt.

The Vibe GT looks nice, I'll say that, though.

The 2009 Fit Sport has 16" wheels. How big can the Aveo's wheels go again?

The reason the Fit is so popular is because it's very, very well built. If you've sat in the cabin of a Fit, and then an Aveo, there would be no question.

I am not a Honda fanboy, despite owning one (I've had tons of troubles), but I am objective: the Fit is easily the better car.

Every company has issues. But not one of them recalled close to a million vehicles recently. Let's look at things objectively here.

Yes, they need a little POS, but they should be able to get a few more MPG out of that thing than they do; to me that is what is disappointing.

Re: Pontiac G3 Comes State-Side!

Why is Pontiac always picked on for having rebadges? Just about every GM division has a rebadge. You could call a Sky a rebadge and the Malibu is an Aura rebadge. GMC trucks are all rebadges as the LaCrosse is a Grand Prix, etc. Nissan does it as Toyota does, too. If GM feels Pontiac needs a small car to get certain people in the showroom, let them do it. It looks better than the Aveo, anyway.

This is Driving Excitement!

'Pontiac Is Chevrolet Cars' (They rebadged the Middle Eastern VE Lumina and took the Prizm to make the Vibe, now they've got Aveo and Cobalt)

Rebadges aren't a bad thing if the products are different enough to give buyers a reason to look at both. The G6 is differentiated from the other Epsilons, the Solstice is differentiated from the Sky and even the Torrent has a sportier, more aggressive look than the Equinox even though it's 98% identical, but the G5 and G3 are grille swaps!

The difference is that Pontiac's rebadges are bad erbadges. They show next to no effort to change whatsoever.

The Sky/Solstice and Malibu/Aura are quite different in looks. They didn't even try with the G5 and the G3.

Well, really, they didnt rebadge the Lumina as the Lumina is a rebadge of the the Commodore as is the G8. Prizm is a Corolla and was a Geo, not a Pontiac or a Chev, and the Vibe, hell thats a Matrix and not a re-badge Chevy either.

Fail!!!!!!11111oneone!!1!1!!

I'm assuming that 90% of the comments on this thread will be negative, so I'll be in the minority here and say...I like this little car.
Most of the people on this board were screaming "just bring the Astra Hatchback" that is what GM should do to save the company, and we know how that fared. Most of the posters on this board have no clue what will sell in this country. The reason for the G3 is the fact that the Aveo is selling well. The local Chevy dealer cannot keep the Aveo on the lot. Many people want an automobile that will get them to work and back without breaking the bank(that bank they don't have), they're not concerned with wowing 0-60 times and fender flares that scrap little children of the sidewalks.

The Aveo and G3 fill that order, this is not a bad looking little car, it looks a hell of a lot better than the Honda Fit which many on this board have creamed their jeans for. If gas prices stay as high as they are today, I will be a customer, and a proud one at that.
