No 6 Speed Manual for 2009 G8 GT
No 6 Speed Manual for 2009 G8 GT
Following the rumor that spread like wildfire last Friday, G8Nation.com went straight to the source and asked Pontiac Communications Manager, Jim Hopson to confirm or quell the rumor. Sorry guys....no rowing your own in the 2009 G8 GT. Last edited by G8Nation.com : 06-24-2008 at 09:06 AM. |

Re: No 6 Speed Manual for 2009 G8 GT
It spread like wildfire because people were actually excited for the car.

Re: No 6 Speed Manual for 2009 G8 GT
This does not strike me as productive...then again Pontiac is trying to sell a ute that Chevy should have gotten as a new El Camino while using the utterly lame advertising line "G-8 is Car".

This will be a deal breaker for many. They are taking a great car, and making it an alsoran. I agree. It doesn't seem like a big deal to drop one in.

Re: No 6 Speed Manual for 2009 G8 GT
I am one of them. I am so sick of being forced to buy an automatic. I prefer a manual, not only are they more fun but I get better mpg then most autos of the same model/make.

Re: No 6 Speed Manual for 2009 G8 GT
The G8 GXP will have a manual though. It's got the LS engine as well. I'd rather have that anyways.

Re: No 6 Speed Manual for 2009 G8 GT
This comment is for all the of the wacked out people of GMI...
Remeber when you all bitched and moaned about not having yet another POS 2 valve manual v8 car? How you all said you'd buy it in a heartbeat. The came the GTO, and it sold like 7 of them. Then you cried when that was gone, and then we saw the Aussie version of the G8 and you all rejoiced knowing it would come over here... Then we got it, no one bought it again... Then you all said it was because it was lacking a stick. Well, now we aren't getting it, yet another failure, honestly GM needs to STOP listening to the likes of GMI. |

Re: No 6 Speed Manual for 2009 G8 GT
Manual transmissions make up <3% of sales in vehicles that offer them. And they save maybe 1 or 2 mpg when you run the numbers. This isn't a huge deal for GM. Though I do feel sorry for those that want the MT because it's fun to drive. I think GM is weighing the costs vs rewards here and not seeing a legit reason. Aparently customer satisfaction is not a high priority for GM right now. Still no Nav or memory seats on the G8 either.

Re: No 6 Speed Manual for 2009 G8 GT
I personally have no interest for any vehicle that is not the top performance trim level. That's why I could never buy a 1st year Camaro... I need to wait till at least year 3 to see what Chevy does for top model. It's also why every Vette bores me to tears now that the ZR1 is top-dog. "Hey, I got a Z06!" "Yeah, so...."
As long as GXP has a stick I'm fine w/ it. Pansies in America buy automatics at over 95% take rate anyway. A kid bought a brand new $54,00 2007 CTS-V from me and returned 6 months later to trade it in (really stupid). My dealer offered him $23K for it (w/ less than 5000 miles on it!) cause the wholesalers figured they couldn't give away a car like that and they'd be stuck with it on the lot for months paying floorplan. |

Re: No 6 Speed Manual for 2009 G8 GT
Actually, I dont think it does. Which would make sense why the stick is only on the NON-AFM GXP cars.
