"New" G6 refresh pics
Didn't see this anyplace and thought to post.
It's completely underwhelming - but the timestamp says it debuted last Friday. SOURCE: WorldCarFans.com Though there isn't much here, I thought to post anyway - and ponder how diappointed Poncho fans must be over so minimal an update. We know GM got caught with it's pants down on this one. They postponed and put off any update since they had planned for a RWD replacement to come shortly thereafter. But CAFE reared it's ugly head and the plans went out the window. The response is a rush-job update for the G6. But rush job or no, couldn't they give us something - anything - more inspiring than this? The only saving grace for the G6 may be an updated range of engines/transmissions and an updated interior. But who knows if GM will spend the needed money to update the interior and powertrains? Seeing as GM didn't even give Pontiac the updated, "black tie" corporate radio when it debuted a few years ago, I'm very skeptical. Consider that the black tie radio has been on the market for a few years now, but GM didn't even bother to change out the old unit in the G6. As of today, the current G6 is still chuggin' along with the old unit that started life in the Equinox and Malibu from years ago. How hard is it to change out one head unit for another? The Equinox got the new black tie radio when its interior was upated. And even the Cobalt and G5 got the new radio the same year it debuted to replace the old one. Didn't the G6 deserve the same? My criticisms aside, let's hope GM doesn't scrimp and cut corners on an updated G6's interior, etc.

Well, at least the grill is updating to the G8 style grill, and some change is better than no change. Hopefully there will be some nice new interior stuff for the next model year as well.

Re: "New" G6 refresh pics
Poncho fans are likely as disappointed as Caddy fans have been lately; very. It's almost as if GM added the camoflauge to this car just to fool everybody into thinking that they are actually making changes to it. GM clearly does not care about this car, and I wonder if that's how customers will start feeling if they haven't already. Pity, it has great potential and life left in its current cycle.

Hmmm...an Aura front bumper and is that a diffuser/insert in the rear?
Must be the exciting MY2010 refresh cause I gots me some 09's on the lot and they look like the 08's, 07's, 06's.... I thought we were getting 'revised' taillights for 09?

Re: "New" G6 refresh pics
A point-ier nose?
This is a case where GM should have hewn more closely to the 'concept' version. In the concept you had a kind of four door pony car - it was only 52" tall. But the production version was just a GM sedan with slightly stranger styling. The pony/sport aspect was largely abandoned, so the only competition was other middle-brow GM mid size sedans. This could have been a 'segment buster' but instead became a ho-hum also ran. |

Re: "New" G6 refresh pics
Yes. This is a screenshot from the site as it is today. Its the same radio that debuted in the old Malibu years ago and the Equinox before the extensive interior update.
![]() This is the "black tie" radio that was to serve as an interim piece as GM transitions to the integrated center-stack look that we've seen in the CTS, the spyshots of the Cruze's and "Invicta's" interior, and other future GM products. ![]()

You need to restate your post, because it does read as if you have already seen the interior of the refreshed G6 and are stating as a fact that it does not have the new radio, the photo from Pontiacs website shows a 2008, and I am pretty sure that everyone here knows that the radio was not changed for 2008 and probably not for 2009, but what we dont know, is what the re-freshed G6 will use. |

Re: "New" G6 refresh pics
Yawn and yawn. I'm sorry GM, but if this is the best you can do for that car go ahead and kill it or damn it to eternity on Enterprise's lots.
So I take it that the Alpha cars are now officially dead?

Re: "New" G6 refresh pics
I think the styling is perfectly fine if not awe-inspiring. It has rather impressive proportions for a FWD car, especially to be a GM midsize that was pre-Aura/Malibu. What would be nice is a new center stack which is by far the worst aspect of this car.
