GM is set to announce that it has reached a deal to sell its Hummer brand to a company already in the truck business in the next few days.

my guess is international. i read from a jeep forum that international has plans for jeep... It could be a good fit with hummer and jeep together with international....

Excuse the ignorance but I haven't done much research on it but what happens to the vehicles when the brand is sold? Does the new buyer get all the tooling for the H2 and H3? Aren't they other platforms within GM? Hence giving a competitor the underpinnings of other GM vehicles? Or does the buyer get only the Hummer brand name?

I thought that was just an April Fools joke, if I remember the stories correctly.

John Deere, International Harvester, Isuzu, Peterbuilt, Sterling, AM General, Unimog/Benz.....pretty much all I can that I could see purchasing the Hummer brand, tooling, and dealer network.

Isn't "AM General" the company that "GM" purchased Hummer from originally???

I'm putting a buck fiddy on a long shot.

Mahindra.

They are gearing up to enter the US market. They could end up with the Shreveport assembly plant and a dealer chain to work with.

that is a good choice, but they did state they did not want to purchase saturn and chose to go alone.... i say they should sell saturn and hummer as a package buy on get on 1/2 off

Maybe Navistar. Then they could put their 4 cylinder diesel engines in and be an environmental winner!

Gee, he really went out on a limb there. I'll bet against him just based on his track record.

Re: Hummer Sale Announcement Pending

I am also curious as to what they would get in the sale. Would they get the tooling to build the frames, which are essentially GMT-800 and 355 stuff? Would the get licensing to use GM engines/transmissions?

Sterling is dead. Daimler killed it last year.
