Goat please..... A Judge version is badly needed. We already have the Camaro in 09 for the Firebird segment. We need a BMW killer.....

6.2 S\C would be just fine.

Do it please...

Re: Goat or Chicken: Will 2010 Pontiac be a Firebird or GTO?

I would like to see both, but if I had to choose, I'd choose the GTO. When Holden brought over the Monaro for MY2004-06, the GTO sold, and it brought the idea of Pontiacs as rebadged Holdens, which isn't a bad thing.

GM shouldn't have to take a risk with the Firebird. Build on the GTO/Monaro's success.

Re: Goat or Chicken: Will 2010 Pontiac be a Firebird or GTO?

I agree with what Lutz said......we've got the Camaro coming, let everyone see how it sells and let it cement itself in the marketplace........Firebird would be just another "me-too" reply to the Mustang and Challenger and wouldn't do much towards helping Pontiac move upmarket as they want to do with the G8 (God forbid if Burt Reynolds and/or Jerry Reed get their nostalgic hands on one......)

The GTO on the other hand would be a good complement to the G8......a sporty, upmarket GT-type coupe, positioned a few notches above the Camaro/Mustang/et al. It would also be a good "all-american" alternative to midsize coupes like the Altima and Accord (the G6 is good.....but not quite good enough)

Zeta GTO over rebadged Camaro Firebird. The Camaro can get enough sells by it's self.

GTO. Even if the Firebird did come back, I seriously doubt we would see another Trans Am, so what's the point?

Build this and it will destroy GTO sales.

Yes this is an no-brainer. Forget about a G6 coupe on alpha, change the styling and call it Firebird.

Re: Goat or Chicken: Will 2010 Pontiac be a Firebird or GTO?

Please no cheesy G5-like rebadge of something that can be bought at the Chevy dealer across the street for less --- and with the same powertrain. A grille-swapped Camaro or even a simple reskinned mechanical twin would be lameness (I guess many of the F-body die hards would disagree ---- as long as they see a Firebird emblem, they're happy, I guess. Easy to please...).

Something like a unique to Pontiac Turbo Trans Am? A Camaro with a different engine option at least? Now that would at least be something worth crowing about, and I could get behind that, even if the base engines were the same. But no G5-Cobalt / Equinox-Torrent / Uplander-SV6 toothpaste marketing, please. The trend of the Lambdas and Pontiac rebadges of late (and even the Sky/Solstice twins) gives me little hope that we'll see unique powertrain setups for Pontiac any time soon, though. So a GTO wins from that perspective. By nature of being Holden-engineered and built, it would not be just another car built alongside a Chevy (or Saturn) with cosmetic differences only.

Give any possible Firebird some reason to exist other than a twin port grille and arrowhead badge and making Pontiac dealers happy with another Chevy reskin.

Since Pontiac would have something unique in the U.S. market in the G8, why not make life easier for the parts managers and service technicians at Pontiac dealerships and give the G8 a two-door stablemate that shares many of its components, like a Monaro/last-gen GTO?

Let Chevy have the Canadian stuff to itself for a change. Impala and Camaro and whatever Caddy gets into the future.

Re: Goat or Chicken: Will 2010 Pontiac be a Firebird or GTO?

to everyone saying the trans am will be a rebdage.. could you please go back over the past 3 generations of f bodies and tell me when they looked similar? i wouldnt mind have the trans am being sold along with the camaro.. only thing is they should keep the trans am a lower volume car.. this argument is almost like the silverado vs sierra argument.

i say.. bring em both back!

**if anything the last model of trans ams and the late 80's ones looked so much better than the camaros

I really don't mind if it is a goat or a chicken. I'd just like to see a high performance 2 door vehicle from Pontiac, the so called BMW performance brand of GM. I don't it matters what the name is, IF it is good, people will flock to pick it up!

Re: Goat or Chicken: Will 2010 Pontiac be a Firebird or GTO?

I'm hoping for a Firebird. But I think there is room for both a Firebird and a GTO if Pontiac eliminates the Vibe and Torrent. Pontiac is supposed to be the GM sports division. So make it that! Performance cars only. But whatever they make for the sports car flagship -- PLEASE PLEASE do NOT call it a G10! I'm sick of this G numbering names. I personally drive a G6, but I think it's okay to have one car named that way. But then they brought out the G5, and now a G8 on the way. I also heard that a new Vibe is coming out and being changed to a G4 name. Stop this! Bring back the good old names! Below is just my opinion on what the 2010 Pontiac lineup should be:

1. G5 Coupe (GT trim level only -- it's cheap enough as it is!) (but please rename it -- bring back Sunbird or Sunfire nameplate)
2. Solstice Roadster (GT, GXP) (please make retractable hardtop, no soft tops!)
3. G6 - Coupe, Convertible (retractable hardtop), & Sedan (GT, GXP)
4. G8 Sedan (GT, GXP) (please bring back Grand Prix nameplate)
5. GTO coupe (base, Judge edition) (basically be a coupe version of the G8)
6. Firebird Coupe & Convertible (retractable hardtop) (Firebird, Formula, Trans Am)

Notice I didn't list any trim levels as "base" (with the exception of the GTO) -- Pontiac is supposed to be sporty -- so every car should start out with a GT badge and be sporty looking -- yes bring back STANDARD spoilers and ground effects!

Okay, I know lots of you won't agree with my opinion -- so go ahead and rip my comment to shreads! =)
