Re: GM To Start Saturn Inventory Reduction Sale Soon

Having a firesale on Saturns makes no sense. If Penske buys Saturn and then contracts the current Saturns for the next few years why give them away now? It seems to me that it would only diminish the value of the product.

Better hurry, Sigma. Pontiac is already giving $4,500 off on the G8 now. If you got a GM Card, they're topping folks off at either $3k or $5k.

I picked up a G8 GT three weeks ago and got $7,512 off a price below invoice. Best deal I ever got on a new car.

Good luck getting a job. Seriously.

It would take a hell of a deal to overcome the Astra's few but significant shortcomings. I'm curious as to what the deals will be on them.

Inventory of G8s is reducing quickly as it is. I visited my local dealer last friday and he was sold out of GXPs and had enough V6 and GT cars to get through another month.

My BPG dealer has 4 G8's left, and the whole lot behind the building is G6's. He can't move those if he gave them away.

Local Saturn dealer has a ton of Astra's still sitting around. I'm interested in seeing what kind of deal they'll give on those.

Good Luck. Ever time I talk to my dealer about an Astra it takes him 10 seconds to start trying to move me to an Aura. Must be some game plan from the top because I had it happen to me at another Saturn dealership too.

Putting the deal aside, the AURA really is a nice car. Looks much more expensive than it is, and rides very smoothly and quietly. The 2.4L 4-cylinder with the 6-speed automatic is a winning combination for both performance and economy. I still wonder why the AURA wasn't a runaway sales success for GM.
The Aura's lack of sales success was very puzzling. I know we bought one purely because the retail Malibu was not available with the higher MPG 3.5L V-6.

Re: GM To Start Saturn Inventory Reduction Sale Soon

I just bought a 2009 Vue XR bout two weeks ago. I thought about waiting around for a deal like this, but the inventory on the Vues (with the options I wanted anyways) seems to be getting pretty low in the area. I searched every dealer in a 150 mile radius and only found 2 with the right options. I didn't want to take the chance of them getting sold. My final price including GM card points was about $4,500 below MSRP which I was pretty happy with.

Black with tan leather interior, chrome wheels and fascia, remote start, heated seats, cargo cover, etc. The only option it didn't have that I wanted was the advanced audio package with the subwoofer, but I can live without it.

Because this isn't about Penske this is about GM getting rid of inventory in the short term.
