I think we (my wife & I) should look into getting a good Outlook out of this deal as replacement for the HHR

Great. I'll take an Astra Red Line.

Oh, wait.

You won't find a deal on an Outlook (or a GMC Acadia for that matter) - inventories are very low.

Supplies of the Chevrolet Traverse are more than adequate (double the normal 60 day inventory on hand).

Should you be looking for a 2008 Saturn Astra, they have 2,300 reasons to sell you one*...

*Source: Automotive News Data Center; GM supplied inventory figure as of June 1, 2009.

GM has already been paid in full for the vehicles that are on dealer lots.

Gimme a big fat rebate on the Aura, nice warranty and unlimited GM card earnings redemptions. Then, I will be on a mission for sure.

You would not regret getting an AURA. They are super nice.

Re: GM To Start Saturn Inventory Reduction Sale Soon

I'm waiting for the Pontiac Inventory reduction sale, so I can get an even bigger break on a G8. I've got my eye on one... now just to convince the parents and or find a job.

Side note: Youth unemployment in Austin is approaching 25% and it's one of the better records in the state.

I don't think so. The cars are "floor planned", that is financed by GM (at an interest rate) and the note is paid off by the dealer when the car is sold to the customer.

I bought one a month ago with rebates and GM card redemptions totaling $8,815. 5 days later my GM card earnings were "topped off" by another $685 but I couldn't get that added. Still, I thought it was a great deal. Wonder how high the rebates will go now ?
Putting the deal aside, the AURA really is a nice car. Looks much more expensive than it is, and rides very smoothly and quietly. The 2.4L 4-cylinder with the 6-speed automatic is a winning combination for both performance and economy. I still wonder why the AURA wasn't a runaway sales success for GM.

floorplanned = financed (by GMAC, US Bank, Ford, etc...) = $ in GM's pocket.

your dealer could have backed out the deal and re-delivered it and gotten you the offer. Very poor customer service.
