Since hes also in emergency response- he also carries an assortment of 'stuff' that is work related.
He also lost part of his foot while on deployment to the middle east- and does carry a spare prosthetic- he has one for normal use- and one for running.. and sometimes Crutches-
As he soon found out--- cargo capacity in the Vue soon ran out- and since he has the hybrid model--- it doesnt come with a roof rack.

I found this out 1st hand when I went to visit him....no more room.
A Traverse, Acadia, Outlook would fit the bill perfectly for him...... especially with a roof rack and a tow hitch--- a hitch mounted rack would do wonders for him.
Please make sure he is aware of GM's Military program and it's Mobility program. Both would apply to any LDT crossover he may have in mind.

If you need additional information on either program, simply email me.

They had $8000 off Astras for a while in Canada. Total clearout deals.

Good op to pick up a new car on the cheap for sure if you don't care the brand is dead.

Nice! I was going down to the Saturn Dealership tonight to buy a new Vue. This just made it sweeter. Our dealership already had Vue's marked down $4500 and Outlooks $5000. I wonder if I can get that plus the $4000 GM is offering and my extra $1000 for currently owning a Vue. I'll have to give them a call later.

Sounds like the game plan of what NOT TO do with a car brand.

Saturn moved upmarket when it should have moved down...
I'm right there with you man... except my Saturn experience has left me grinning ear to ear to watch that company and everyone associated with it go down the drain. I'm die-hard GM but my Saturn was the 2nd worse car I've ever owned. The worst? A Toyota pickup made IN Japan... I'll never do them again either...

Anyone know if that $1,000 to Saturns owners can be used for other GM vehicles? Stopped by my Saturn dealer for serice last week, very little inventory left there.

The $1,000 isn't very useful if there are only a couple of Astras to buy.

Let me know how you do.

If the deal is really good, that dealer has a red outlook that I might be interested in.

What would have more sense was not moving Saturn upscale and keeping it as an entry level brand for GM, much like Scion is Toyota. GM won't get converts from the POS Aveo and the Cruze and Spark are both (EDIT - MANY) months away from being available.

Saturn had good customer service, good word of mouth, buyer loyalty, and a cool quirkiness. Plus it had proven itself to make inroads against the imports - the very thing the brand was designed to do from the start!

If GM had listened to their own mission statement for the brand, they would not have blended them with Opel and moved the entire line upscale.

They tried to slot it against vw when saturn would of flourished as a scion/hybrid competitor, I preached to the choir that saturn should of been filled with greenlines instead of redlines. As originally pontiac was supposed to be slotted as a scion competitor, when it was gm's valid shot at mazda/nissan, filled with a healthy balance of rwd vehicles to compete against dodge/ford. No wonder gm fails.

Saturn was doomed for years. Before GM took it upscale, it might have had a core of fanatical enthusiasts but the general public didn't care. The same plastic body panels that so many buyers loved got it positively ridiculed and despised in reviews from Edmunds.com and especially Consumer Reports, where they tended to rank near the rock bottom.

So GM took the brand up scale, started to get far better reviews (Sky, Aura, Outlook, Astra, redesigned Vue). Except of course they alienated their previous buyers with the higher prices and few other people noticed.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

I posted in a thread a few days ago about the resale value on my Saturn dropping like a rock, and GM offering me a free oil change. People asked me to explain why I thought it was dropping. Well, HERE YOU GO. The 2009 Saturn I paid $34,300 for now cost $29,300 brand new. So, since mine is used with 10,000 miles on it, it will be worth much less. GM just knocked $5,000 off the resale value of my car.
My feelings exactly. This really screws the resale on our skys. Mine was 32,000 (I guess you got the Auto), and I probably couldn't sell it today for $25,000. I guess we can only hope they turn out like the GNX's and in 15 years people want them badly.

Re: GM Opens Wallet To Clear Saturn Vehicles: $4000 Cash + $1000 More To Saturn Owner

I think GM should convert all Saturn Dealers to Buick and GMC and continue to build the Vue and the Aura. Call the dealers Buick, GMC and Saturn. I would sell the Aura until the new Regal arrives and keep the Vue until it runs its course. I would discontinue the Outllook since we have the Enclave and Acadia. I would also if possible to sell the Astra until the new Buick compact arrives as well. The Aura is a fine car that could be around until the new Regal/Insignia arrives and the Vue is an awesome little crossover that could be sold in the same showroom for the time being with the more trucky Terrain. I know GM won't do this but lets face it, Saturn still has nice cars

- currently $6500 on Saturn Sky Redline
- $8000 (!!!!) on Astra XR 3-door
