Dream all you like.. at least the Holden Ute is ready to go to the US market should GM change their mind. The Falcon Ute needs a lot of $$ before they can make it happen.

If GM really wanted to keep those customers, they would offer free scheduled maintenance for the entire life of the warranty, not just a single oil change.

Re: GM Eager To Keep Pontiac & Saturn Customers; 1.6m To Get Free Oil Change Coupon
We bought the 2005 G6 because we liked it better than the (then current version) Malibu for a similar price. The Pontiac dealer that fixed my 1993 Chevy (and every car and truck I owned since) managed to overcome the sour taste that the new 1980 Grand Prix had left in our mouths. My wife refused to even look at Pontiac except for that dealership.
We bought the 2007 G5 because the Pontiac dealer that treated us so well sold it. We avoided the Chevy dealer because the back office and the service department treated us like crap in 1993 when we bought our last new (1993) Chevy car. I bought my 2008 Chevy Colorado 800 miles from home and paid a truck to deliver it because I couldn't find the equipment and price I wanted closer to home. I took my truck in for warranty service at a local Chevy dealer in July. They quit being a Chevy dealer in September. Needing another warranty repair (probably expensive) on the truck, I relented and went back to the Chevy dealer from 1993. Wow! This is not the same place it was back then even though the name on the door is the same. The service department is open until 9:00 pm. (I mean there are techs there, not that I can leave keys in the showroom.) Service writers talk to me, ask if I have any questions and then ANSWER them! There is decent furniture and WiFi in the waiting room. Somebody brings my vehicle to the door when I go to retrieve it. Does this instantly give them the credibility of the Pontiac dealer that I have used for the past 16 years? No. But I don't have that sick feeling in the pit of my stomach at the thought of dealing with them I have had since 1993 when it was clear that they considered it to be a major inconvenience that I had brought the same new car back to them 3 times since they kept doing nothing to fix it. Will I buy another GM car to replace the Pontiac when it's time? Who knows? But getting me in the door for something not dreadful has possibly eliminated the "I'll drive used cars before I deal with those b*******s again" feeling. (Just for the record, I had an Olds too and was considering trading the G5 for an Astra. Do you think I'm the reason they killed Olds, Pontiac and Saturn? If so, they may not want me buying a Chevy or a Buick.) A free oil change coupon wouldn't have brought me in to this particular dealership (but there are others that would have gone in).

The whole point is what in the hell did this committee come up with in the 2 months between when they announced they were going after the free agents and this announcement? 2 months and all they came up with was a free oil change? A monkey could have came up with that strategy. What are these execs getting paid to come up with this crap? There are SEVERAL things GM could do, but I'm banking on them cheaping out. That's fine if that's the way they want to play. Just don't expect much GM.
