Re: Edmunds InsideLine: Pontiac Kills Rear-Wheel-Drive G8
If things don't turn around in the auto market and GM doesn't start making smarter decisions they'll be discontinuing all models.

Re: Edmunds InsideLine: Pontiac Kills Rear-Wheel-Drive G8
Thats a shame. Well if there are no affordable V8 powered rear wheel drive sedans from GM, I guess I wont be getting another GM car past the G8.

Well it has been a whole six months. If it isn't sold out now, it will never pick up. Especially with GMs stellar marketing campaign

Re: Edmunds InsideLine: Pontiac Kills Rear-Wheel-Drive G8
Lets all hope not! If the Solstice and G8 go.. Pontiac is as good as dead.
Maybe cuz GM will be getting Dodge? ![]()

Re: Edmunds InsideLine: Pontiac Kills Rear-Wheel-Drive G8
my thought exactly.. Pontiac is next to go.. And that makes me sad.. I have had two Grand Prixs.. and i am not happy to see this.. But who would really want one if you can get superior cars from Chevy.. Shame.. if they really are going to just make it rebadges.. kill off GM..

Re: Edmunds InsideLine: Pontiac Kills Rear-Wheel-Drive G8
GM is faced with saving the brands that will keep them going. GM spent billions on pumping up it's niche brands in the past years with marginal results. Keeping lesser brands alive is the last of their worries. Economies of scale dictate two main brands that share major components.
Rear drive is not dead!! But the game plan will be changed. You will see Chevrolet and Cadillac have common platforms that will include FWD, RWD, and AWD. GM will have no choice in the next few years. With money running out and profits no where in sight, it's a logical assumption you may see some brands go away. |

Re: Edmunds InsideLine: Pontiac Kills Rear-Wheel-Drive G8
Why is there no G5 GXP? I wondered into a Chevy dealer last night just to see if there was any Camaro lit. and they had a bright shiny black Cobalt SS. This is a hot liitle compact. I feel the G5 looks better than the Cobalt but why doesn't the "Performance" division not have it or even a little hotter version?
I don't sleep well at night thinking about be belove brand. I guess if Dodge replaces my Pontiac I can feel better about a Challenger since the powers at be see no need for a Firebird. |

Re: Edmunds InsideLine: Pontiac Kills Rear-Wheel-Drive G8
What is going on with the mindset at GM? So deny Americans of a decent rear drive sedan ( that cost them nothing to develop ), poison a historic brand name and compromise an efficient and profitable outpost of the company that sends them regular dollars. All in a days work at GM management, there must be no morale left at GM, just leaves us all scratching our heads as to what the heck they are thinking.
