Buick, Pontiac & GMC To Get 12 New Vehicles Over The Next 20 Months - No Trans Am
Buick, Pontiac and GMC dealers will get 12 new or special-edition vehicles over the next 20 months — but they won't get a Pontiac Trans Am.

Re: B-P-G: No Trans Am for Pontiac
You didn't read the quote from the article... I was not refering to the Trans Am, it was the comment that "Pontiac might not end up as GM's performance division".

Re: B-P-G: No Trans Am for Pontiac
If this ends up being true, I will consider this GM's biggest mistake in reacting to CAFE. Pontiac really should be about performance. Even if the G8 doesn't last long, they should have smaller more effiecent RWD and AWD cars. I think RWD makes more sense for a performance brand needing effiency though. A transverse AWD setup is actually worse than just going RWD from a fuel economy perspective. That was one suggestion made though in other discussions like this that Pontiac would get primarily AWD Eppy II and smaller cars. I really think pontiac will still get an Alpha and think that Kappa II will not just be roadsters, but also mini coupes and sedans. That would work for Pontiac to have all very small to mid sized RWD cars with great handling characteristics and mostly 4 bangers, but not necessarily big power outside of GXP models.

Re: B-P-G: No Trans Am for Pontiac
I assume they mean Firebird because the Trans Am name will never come back.
I really don't see any reason a Firebird couldn't come back. Alpha is the future of this brand, a smaller Firebird with turbo V6 engines solves all these problems.

If they do a good job I might be interested.

Most....not all car companies react instead of acting bold in tough situations.....similiar to government policies!!!!!! I'm a Camaro fan, but it would be great to see a F/TA in the muscle car mix.

If this is the case, then axe Pontiac.

Re: B-P-G: No Trans Am for Pontiac
I really don't see the point to having a Pontiac brand if its just going to continue be the arguably less attractive siblings to Chevy and Saturn cars and the G8, which probably wont be around long by the way they are talking.

Re: B-P-G: No Trans Am for Pontiac
GM really doesn't have their heart in Pontiac. Let it die... they don't need a new GEO brand. Saturn is currently doing Pontiac better than Pontiac (with the exception of the G8)... turn the G8 into a Caprice or Impala, let the Vibe / Nummi connection die, and put poor Pontiac out of its misery.

Special edition cars means those stupid ass crap add on's that they put on GMC trucks or the sticker jobs they put on Buicks or Pontiacs.
Though I did hear there might be a G5 GXP. |
