Re: 2009 Pontiac Vibe caught

yeah the gauge cluster looks pretty interesting..

I'm not to wild about the shifter being ON the dash.. i always hated that and couldnt imagine driving a stick for extended periods of time, having to hold my arm suspended in space.

But, it seems common these days so someone must like it..

Its pretty good position its not that far out since its higher up and closer to you. But in the pic it does look out of place.

Re: 2009 Pontiac Vibe caught

Looks good -- I think that it's a good update and follows along the lines of the current car.

I wonder what they will call it as it seems the idea of continuing the Vibe name is in some doubt....

Re: 2009 Pontiac Vibe caught

Looks good, although I don't think it's consistent with Pontiac's plan to go to all RWD vehicles. I almost wonder if this will end up being sold as a Chevy.

I doubt it...I'd rather Pontiac have something like the Astra, than the Vibe personally.

So should I not hold my breath for a possible return to AWD?

Re: 2009 Pontiac Vibe caught

Why does Pontiac keep on with this crap. The Vibe is, and by the looks of the redesign, still is, an ugly car. It's out of place in Pontiac's current and future lineup. They have the G5, as bad as it is, why do they think they need this. Tell Toyota to stick it.

Re: 2009 Pontiac Vibe caught

As a GM fan I have little good to say about GM depending on Toyota technology for a small Pontiac car - even though I'd probably like the car on its merits alone.

I know the history of NUMMI, but consider it an anachronism, especially in the face of Toyota taking GM's place as #1 automaker. It's one thing to depend on a scrappy company like Suzuki or Daewoo for your small cars. Its completely another to sell Toyota engines, transmissions and platforms under a Pontiac badge and call it a "good thing".

Sometimes "It will sell good" isn't enough to justify a competitor's car in your lineup. Especially when the media is making a big deal of how GM is being overtaken by that competitor. And when the car has very little in the way of "GM Engineering" in it. To be frank, its embarassing.
