Re: 2009 Pontiac G8 Loses Aux. Gauges

I also picked one up this past Saturday, big red display and all.

It's no pampering luxury car, it's a big tire burner and it does what it does well. An honest, straightforward modern muscle car for those who want one.

I saw your post at TTAC that you'd bought one - congratulations and enjoy.

Re: 2009 Pontiac G8 Loses Aux. Gauges

Kinda ridiculous to majorly cheap out with the blank plastic for 2009, particularly when they have the other multi-display units available overseas. This is just typical GM bean counting at its worst, and has NO place in 2008. Vehicles should be IMPROVING and adding options/features as the model years progress, not losing them.

I have an 01 Bonneville, and on the 00 Bonnevilles they had puddle lights in the doors. After the first model year, they just became reflectors. Ridiculous.

As far as the Epsilon I navigation problem, I find it absolutely unacceptable that they did not include it. For God sakes, if the H-body/G-body/K-body trio had navigation in the late 90s/early 2000s that decision must have been made almost in the 80s! How did they leave this out for the Epsilon????

No good excuse.

Re: 2009 Pontiac G8 Loses Aux. Gauges

Am I to understand that GM came up with those awful red gages [sic] specifically for the US? They went out of their way to design them for here?? I say this because the Commodore's dash doesn't have them and it looks great without them.

Commodore variants do have the red gauges. HSV get the circular dials as per your pic

Re: 2009 Pontiac G8 Loses Aux. Gauges

Now I'm really confused! What vehicle is depicted in this thread with righthand drive but no gauges in the center? That certainly looks better than the Atari gauges or shallow, empty slot.
