Re: 2009 Pontiac G8 Loses Aux. Gauges

Thats good they're ditching that readout. They should put something there. (compass, temperature, MPG, maybe even a torque readout like the Camaro has).

Re: 2009 Pontiac G8 Loses Aux. Gauges

The person responsible for the digital readout should be sacked along with whoever was responsible for the fake woodgrain on the first of the VE Berlina's.

They should just adopt the HSV aux guage cluster.

I'd much prefer to have radio readout up there rather than below my knee...

It is up there for the standard radio isn't it?
Which brings up the question as to what will be there now with the Blaupunkt display.

GM, please give this car the optional Navigation screen for 2009. What is the reluctance of this car manufacturer of putting Navigation screens in their cars except Caddy's, the Lucernes and SUV's ?? Are you going to use the same excuse used as with the Epsilons which I think is ludicrous.

Come on GM !!!!

By then drive-by-thought and fart-activated manumatics will become standard. Come on, GM needs to lead, not grudgingly follow...

Call the Epsilon excuse what you wish, but it is true. If the investment needed to completely rewire the Epsilon platform will never make a return based on the low number of benefited users (nav buyers), then it does not make business-sense to spend the money.

People can complain all they want about it and say GM screwed up on nav (which is true), but if the investment isn't worth it...what would any profit-hungry company do?

Re: 2009 Pontiac G8 Loses Aux. Gauges

Nav could do wonders for the perception of the vehicles - and that needs to be taken into account (strictly speaking), while I don't think GM does so.

Also, the unwillingness to give even a simple brush-up to one of the most important platforms indicates GM's perhaps excessive tight-fistedness. GM needs to find a way to make such investment less costly, rather than avoid it. This one step ahead, two steps back approach is why so many people STILL won't consider a GM vehicle in the US, and why Opel is still playing second fiddle to VW.

Easier said than done. GM has: Delta II, Epsilon II, TE, Zeta, and Gamma II all in R&D right now. They are a company that is in a financial crunch.

It astounds me that people complain that GM is not investing into existing platforms that are on the last term of their life anyway. That new 2008 Malibu...that is considered an investment (and the final investment I might add) to the Epsilon I platform. The Malibu was the investment cut-off for that architecture.

Last term of their life? The next Malibu won't be here for another 4 years.
