But what about the torque deficit? An 4sp FWD LS4 powered LaCrosse wastes a 6sp RWD/AWD 3.6L DI CTS in a drag race, despite them both having 300hp making the LS4 "pointless".

EDIT: The LS4 LaCrosse will have its way with a 3.6DI Camaro in a race as well.

Also, I don't mind the new radio and DIC, but I wish they made the displays red to match the rest of the car. The new ones are going to look like Frankenstein, with parts borrowed from Chevy & other cars!

How hard could it be to give the radio and DIC a red display? The best thing about the current interior is the red dash and radio display. I've always been a fan of the red text on black background and feel that it is as much a signature of Pontiac as the twin grill!

And that the G8 and Vibe don't have that element is my biggest complaint about them.
I totally agree Pontiac should have the red display as Chevy has blue and Saturn has orange.

Re: 2009.5 Brings 4-Cylinder G6 Coupe

I had no idea there wasn't a four cylinder G6 coupe. I assumed there was since the sedan had it. Wow, I can't believe they never bothered. Come on! Was this a ploy to push G5 sales? A young unmarried guy like myself is a prime sales target for a G6 4cyl coupe and they never had one? Yeesh.

Re: 2009.5 Brings 4-Cylinder G6 Coupe

Old news, and I already brought this up last week here, in an ad I first saw in Automobile:

2009.5 G6 Revealed: Revised Fascias, New Controls

And they posted the ordering guide changes a little bit ago, as well.

Now it's just when are they orderable and/or going to start showing up on lots. Until now, there only has been a GT 3.5L coupe to start with the GTP or GXP the next rung up, keeping the coupe a bit above the sedan starting point. Given that coupes sold still do a lot in 4-cyl volume--i.e. Accord, even though the comparison is hit or miss--it's a good move. I still don't see dealers ordering and stocking many, though, as a coupe isn't a big seller regardless.

Re: 2009.5 Brings 4-Cylinder G6 Coupe

I noticed something odd concerning the radio option in AutoBook (updated today). It shows the new "base" G37 coupe has the blacktie US8 standard, and the UUI radio as an option that includes a USB port for thumb drives which has been an option on the G5. But it shows the GT and GXP coupe with the "old" radios. This is incorrect. The online order guide clearly shows the new blacktie radios on all G6 models? I do love that USB....goodbye 6 disc changers.

Agree 100%, I bought a green Grand AM Quad4, 5 speed GT coupe off the showroom floor back in 1996, and even with 155hp it was a very enjoyable car. Much moreso than that damnable 3.1L auto.

$16,995 sticker too.

Re: 2009.5 Brings 4-Cylinder G6 Coupe

I might just have to give this car a test drive assuming it will be cheaper than the other coupes.

It would be much different from malibu and aura. it just shows you how gm can not manage brands. Look they already have these engines why not use them?
I have always had this theory that European Epsilon cars (9-3, Vectra, BLS) are different enough that they can't plug-n-play American Epsilon cars' engines, and vice versa.

I guess it makes sense that the G5 dropped its 2.4 option.

Lipstick on a Pig?

While its not a bad idea, the coupes simply do not move. I dont think its because of the 6 cylinder, the majority of our consumers require the praticality of the sedan. Plus its a 5 year old car that has lost whatever excitement it once had.

Re: 2009.5 Brings 4-Cylinder G6 Coupe

the biggest thing on my mind is...what kind of wheels will it have? If I'm buying the 2 door coupe, it is because of style....hopefully it won't be limited to plastic wheel covers or 16 inchers.

If i remember correctly, which i havent been doing well today, it is more or less a poor-man's traction control. It will start you out in a higher gear to help prevent wheel slipage on ice, snow etc. etc.

Re: 2009.5 Brings 4-Cylinder G6 Coupe

its about time they did that. now bring the manual trans standard on all models and you might have more buyers. i love the G6 and think it should be doing better in sales.
