UPDATE

I noticed quite a few people asking about a manual transmission. Here is your answer from GM:

The base G8 model receives a 3.6L DOHC V-6 with variable valve timing, rated at 261 horsepower (194 kW). It is paired with a five-speed automatic transmission with manual shift mode.

The G8 GT is powered by a uniquely configured 6.0L small-block V-8, rated at 362 horsepower (270 kW) and 391 lb.-ft. of torque (530 Nm). A six-speed automatic transmission with manual shift mode is standard and features the fuel-saving Active Fuel Management system, which enhances fuel economy by alternating between eight- and four-cylinder power. An optional six-speed manual transmission will be available soon after launch.

I cannot wait for this car to hit market. Look for Pontiac street-cred to get another boost over what GTO and Solstice have done.

I think I read where the 6 speed manual will not be available at the time of introduction, but will be available a few months later.

Is K-Pow the same as Impulse Blue? I'm surprised there's no white. I'd love to see Morpheus (Purple)!

I'm impressed, and I haven't said that about a GM product (besides the C6) in a while -- this could replace my E-class, if I can get:

- Integrated bluetooth
- HID headlamps
- In-dash Nav

Any ideas? Or am I simply missing something?

This car is going to rock. Hopefully the 6-speed manual won't take too long and the LS3 will be in the GXP version.

Battery in the trunk? That is an interesting feature that I guess helps the weight distrubution.

5 speed automatic? Why not a 6 speed auto?

Those are all options that I would want. And heated seats, of course, LOL.

I can't wait to see this car on the streets. It looks like Pontiac finally has a top of the class mainstream product for the first time in decades

But then again, all those cars have "fart burners" on them. That "fart burner" ads 5-10HP to your car ;some of those small Hondas can whip a Vett off the line. (from anti-rice.com)
So 115hp+10hp=430hp, at least in ricerland

It looks like the 6-speed auto (with "manual" capabilities) will be available as an option. My question is if it will be a paddle shift or a "slapstick"?

I'm pleasantly surprised they decided to keep the Holden color names.

Yeah, I though that there was going to be an optional 6 speed manual too? Actually it should be the standard transmission in both the base and GT versions, to help with the MPG.

Pretty nice though, base models should start at $25,000, I hope, I would have made the limited slip and 19inch wheels available on the base model as well, sometimes people want to dress up the V6 version without having to pay the premium of going to the V8.

I hope that the SIDI 3.6 is on the menu, at least as an option for the near future.
