Re: ZR1 Nurburgring Video
Beautiful. Id even say that he could have gone faster. A few little trips off the track, and drop that head wind (as someone commented, reached 179 straight away, IMO low for a car with 620hp). Either way, very powerful, very awesome, a true supercar!

Re: ZR1 Nurburgring Video
He had a genuine "Oh S#!t" moment at 1:58, catching air mid-turn. I would need to have depends on while trying to lap the ring in any car. I guess thats why I'm not a race car driver.

Re: ZR1 Nurburgring Video
I like how GM posts videos of their claimed times around the ring, unlike some other manufacturers who just make these claims with no solid indisputable proof to back it up. yet their still get sh it on and seem to get no credit for being honest.
nm, i just noticed they have a video for the gt-r, but it is someone filming a tv and not the actual video. Last edited by Joevette : 07-10-2008 at 05:43 PM. |

Re: ZR1 Nurburgring Video
I love in car video. I'm looking at getting something similar for my '02 Z06. And pretty nice driving for an engineer. I can see the spot where Jan Magnussen got airborne last year. Jan **** his pants and wanted out of the car.
But man, was he getting loads of oversteer on corner exit. If that car was mid-engined he could probably be more on the throttle past apex. I'm saying this car could be faster than the 7:26 they got. I only get to a few tracks each summer and don't consider myself an expert. But I could feel that when I drove the current Z06 at a driving school back-to-back with the C5 Z06. This ZR1 must be even worse. AWD would also help that. But to me, that's cheating. I think this 'bad boy' needs to be mid-engined to help put more of that +600HP to work. I don't believe a mid-engined Corvette is sacriledge. I believe it's just the next logical progression to keep it among the worlds best.

Re: ZR1 Nurburgring Video
Is it just me or did he not drive as fast as he could have through the long straight not even breaking 180MPH while he was able to break 170MPH on a much much shorter straight.
And wow did he get air born in this car. The understeer is kept well under control which is a big concern with a 638BHP RWD car. caught the power slide, some what of a sloppy lap for the car....... Looks like there is a good amount of time that a better driver will be able to get out of the car, problem with that is this engineer is probably better then 90% of the people who are going to buy one as is. Re: ZR1 Nurburgring Video
Holy smokes!! I didn't note the time, but did y'all notice the part where he sort of turns in really early and kinda jumps over the apex and lands it in a sideways drift at like 110 mph !..?! Right at 4 minutes. There it is.
They need to offer ride-alongs at a price. I've gone skydiving before and I don't think it would be nearly as hair-raising and fun as that! Last edited by 68CoupeDeVille : 07-10-2008 at 06:41 PM. |
