Re: GM Reportedly Calls "Game On" for Supercharged 550 HP Camaro Z28

What will GM sell in terms of Z/28s? 15,000 a year, maybe? Yeah, sure, they could probably move more, but the point is not to move an infinite number but to make them rare. I can't wait to see if this is true. If it is, it'd be awesome and show the feds truly want GM to be a car company and not interfere with stupid rulings from DC.

Re: Z/28 Back On?
They should put adaptive suspensions on them. Make them stand out as true sports coupes, as good as anything out there.
And, yeah, I think like some have postulated above that this will come after the facelift. Man, Lutz must be getting his way big time. First rumours of the DT7 coming RWD and now this. We can only hope that they're listening to Lutz and not the accountants.

Re: Z/28 Back On?
hmmm, that would suck. hopefully its not. i dont see why they couldnt use some exotic materials as they call them to cancel the increase in weight due to the supercharger.

Re: Z/28 Back On?
Welp, some people like to turn the steering wheel.
JMHO, but the Camaro doesn't need more power - it needs to be more nimble, it needs to handle better, it needs better steering feel. All of those things, are Z/28 hallmarks. I'd like to see all of those things getting attention on a new REAL Z/28 package. An extra 130 hp is completely irrelevant to me, if this sucker gains 200-300 pounds. |

Re: Z/28 Back On?
If all it can do is go fast in a straight line, no, that's not good enough for something called a Z/28!
Call it a COPO or a ZL-1 or an SS ... but the Z/28 was the closest thing to a sports car in the Camaro line-up. All the reviews I've read on the current SS say the same thing -- it's very competent on a road course, but the weight and understeer hold it back. An, it's 'only' 3900 lbs! To put it another way, 4100 lbs is about what a mid-90s Impala SS weighted in at. Strapping a jet pack onto an elephant doesn't make it a cheetah. |

Re: Z/28 Back On?
one would have to surmise that it would get upgraded handling/suspension package... somewhat akin to a Pedder's upgrade...
If they used 'exotic' materials, the price would skyrocket even more. I do agree, toss in the Z06 powerplant and call it a day. |
