Re: Volt Revealed!
It looks fantastic! Actually better than the oddball looking concept. Although this looks very prototype-ish, I have a hard time seeing this as the production version. Now, can I get one with an arrowhead on a split grille?

Re: Volt Revealed!
I like it. It looks far better than the light blue photo we saw last week. I'd love to see one in a dark shade. The interior will be interesting to see in person.
The design team that worked on this car deserves to be congratulated. I hope the powertrain works as well as the car looks.

Re: Volt Revealed!
Does anyone else think that the instrument panel and center display close when the car is off?
It looks like they do. I am pretty darn happy about the Volt, a great way to light the candles on GM's 100th birthday! |

The Volt could be a Series-Hybrid Plug-In Electric Cobalt. Appearance is irrelevant as long as it delivers on the ECONOMY promise. The car we have here looks like Delta II meets the Jetsons. The very fact that GM put so much effort into making a big deal about the car's style (especially the interior environment) should be applauded. Not only IS this car the future, but it also LOOKS like the future. If your purchase decision was driven by the style of the Concept than buy a Camaro, where fidelity to the concept's style matters. That you would divest yourself of all your current GM products because this reveal upsets you is childish. |

Re: Volt Revealed!
You still need to tell the motors which direction to go in, or are you going to have a different reverse pedel. Have you ever tried to push an electric motor when the hold the polarities steady and cause the motors not to turn? Have fun doing that one, thats like trying to move a brick wall, you will get the tires to slide before the motor breaks loose which means you need N. And with the first part of the statement is P. You still need some sort of switch to tell the car when to be in PRND.

Re: Volt Revealed!
Wow. The Volt looks stunning. Both the exterior and interior. I actually like it much better than the concept. The concept, while cool, looked a bit too over the top, agressive, and as someone else mentioned, trying too hard to look like the Camaro. This pre-production Volt looks much more polished and classy. I don't think it looks like your typical econobox at all. And that interior is incredible. It is nice to see GM market this as a Chevy with all the technological features it contains, from the drivetrain, to the IP, to the touch sensitive center stack. Very cool. This is what I would expect from Cadillac version. I really love that Chevy, GM's mainstream bread and butter brand, gets all these goodies. I know it will cost a lot, but this future mobile looks like it is worth every penny. I can't wait to see the Caddy version.

Re: Volt Revealed!
I am not a Chevy fan whatsoever. However, this thing looks really, really nice. The biggest downside is that it only seats four. I have three kids and a wife...so my wife won't be able to get one. She was hoping to get one in a few years to replace her minivan.

GM is more on track for success in terms of desirable product than anytime since their dominance in the late 70's. GM needs this platform to sell 1,000,000+ a year to make a real difference in the long term success of the company. Later variants can be niche products but I believe GM is on the right track to go volume with the Volt and to do that globally, it must have rather modest styling. Two thumbs up! |

Re: Volt Revealed!
Don't like the interior...dash/steering wheel looks like it is out of the Honda parts bin. We had a Honda Accord a couple years ago and seriously considered a Civic, but Honda is off of our shopping list for now because we don't like the new Honda Interiors. I was never seriously going to consider a Volt in the first few years of production, but I wouldn't buy one (just like we aren't buying a civic or accord) with that interior.
I do think the exterior is good, but the fact they got larger wheels on it is great. |
