Re: Volt Revealed!

In my personal opinion, even if the Volt's price might be out of reach for a lot off people, let's hope this car will bring people into Chevy dealerships. If the Volt's price is too high, there's other cars to consider such as the Aveo, Cruz, Malibu, Chevy's hybrid SUV and trucks.

I also wonder, if it wouldn't have been better to wait until Detriot (auto show) to do the full reveal of the Volt - that way the Volt could have really upstaged the new Prius when it is introduced. Perhaps, GM will do something at the show that will do so anyway.
I'm wondering if maybe a more production ready Saturn version, or a Cadillac concept version might show their faces at the NAIAS. Maybe it'll be something more special on the Volt, who knows...either way, I'll be there!

You could say that about any automatic transmission, though.

That is what I am getting at as well, it even sounds like there might be a low gear where they throw more juice at it. Or some how have extra boost from regen? There should be PRND(maybe L) how ever they want to do that gearshift im not sure.

Re: Volt Revealed!

Just to reiterate a fact. The center stack can be had in more colors than off white. GM wouldnt be so stupid to make only white colored center stack consoles.

Ok the $40,000 price tag bothers me. GM should have a lease option in addition to direct retail sales to consumers.

With the Volt GM should do a Malibu market saturation when its ready... but again I dont think they will be able to produce enough Volts to meet demand.

You forgot the external cooling fins to increase efficiency in those "high current" moments

I'll be very interested to see how this thing drives.

Overall, It's a pretty impressive execution.

The M does in fact mean More Power although it is actually a Mountain or hill climbing mode.

One of the concerns was that the engine and electric motors would not be able to provide sufficient power to go up various mountain passes. It's my assumption that M is going to change some of the drive dynamics for mountainuous regions. This might include running the engine at a higher RPM or running the battery below the set depletion point or some other combination of things.
