Re: Volt Revealed!
Just goes to show you that a economy car doesnt have to look flimsy and have body panels that dont look like melted plastic. For the market the volt is intended for, a "edgy" subdued look is perfect, it does not have to have a camaro like profile to sell in droves (people that are complaining that it doesnt look like the concept and/or aggressive enough).

Re: Volt Revealed!
I think it looks great. I especially like Monaros lowered version with the bigger wheels. Maybe he can add some more exciting colors as well.

Re: Volt Revealed!
This looks amazing. I am extremely impressed with the interior. While I don't like the white so much, I do hope that GM will be giving us color choices, kind of like what MINI does. I would at least hope for a black or silver option on the center console.
What really is getting me on the interior is the way that the dash panels on either side, actually wrap around and down into the door cards. It has a beautiful flow, and is definately unlike anything else on the market. The car actually looks like a concept still, so if this is exactly the way that it looks when it rolls out onto the sales floor, I can't imagine that it won't be what a lot of people will be clamoring for! -Chase

Re: Volt Revealed!
^ Now thats the question, is this more teaser, and everything will be in reduction, of detail quality etc.
If these are the intented qualities and details it is very much a 40k car. But if we lose those little blue lines in the headlamps, and the nice looking led fogs, and the cool lighting, and the neat smooth piano finish on some of the plastic, then... It'll look bad all over again. |

Re: Volt Revealed!
They apparently had to get rid of the cool long hood look - I guess for aerodynamics. Yet the craggy mag wheels can stay?
This demonstrates an old virtue of GM going back at least to the '32 Chevy - the ability to use lots of trim to make something look more expensive than it is. But the basic body shape is Prius, not the 'dreamcar' psuedo-Camaro Volt we all drooled over. Apparently noboby at GM is worried that people will delay buying a current GM to wait for this one. (In the sixties GM never would have made these big pronouncements of super-neat cars coming a few years. Ironically (tragically?) the first time GM really bragged about something that was no more than some equations on pieces of paper? The "XP887" which was heralded in 1968. The car we ended up with? The VEGA. |
