Please do not take this car that seriously. Perhaps only a few cues will make it to the C7. In all honesty, I beleive that it's very awesome for GM to make a Corvette concept car right now. (and put it in an upcoming movie!) This IS NOT the what the actual C7 will look like. Get over it. The doors on this car open like a Lambo. I don't think GM is going to ruin the Corvette's equation for success at the moment. I also don't think the Corvette is going Mid-engine, as much as Wallace would like it to. About the design, I'm very glad to see the designers thinking radically like this. It shows that "Yeah this isn't a production Corvette, but just wait we've still got more up our sleeves." Some of you may say this is a bad design. Well friends, just consider this the "Mako Shark" concept for the 21st century. (without the blue shark color scheme.) I'm glad the tooth grille made it into the concept, and I would like to see it on the C7. This is a design cue that I included in my C7 Corvette concept for the GMI Corvette design contest. You may disagree with me, but the tooth grille was on the Corvette first. This grille is not really inspired by the new Camaro. The Camaro's was inspired by the past Corvette's grille, which in it's new interpretation, has made it onto this new concept. So before anyone criticizes the grille, it is a Corvette cue. (look at a c1) This are the things Ed Welburn's trying to bring back. Recognizable design cues from the past, interpreted for today. (That GM somehow stopped using to their advantage)

Re: Transformers Mystery Car Is The Corvette Centennial Concept!
You see GM, or more accurately Lutz, spending all this money on specialty vehicles(CTS-V, ZR1, Centennial Corvette, Supercharged Camaros etc.), which all sell in very small volumes. I just can't see much money to be made there. Let's get the company where it needs to be and Bob can play with his toys.

Re: Transformers Mystery Car Is The Corvette Centennial Concept!
WARNING EDUCATED GUESS AHEAD BASED ON PAST INFORMATION.
I believe that the profile of the car is a good indication as to the possible future of the Corvette. I recieved a photo once when speculation was floating around about the C6, and when there was a debate in GM as to what direction the design should go. It was of a group of poeple and behind them on the wall was several sketches of a long nosed car that used the styling cues from what looked like the '73 Corvette. Later the fenders and other elements were toned down, and the car became more of an extention and update of the '97 designs. The pics has long since been lost (I changed computers and did not transfer those files.) , but i have uploaded a pica of a '73 vette for comparison. The rest of the car I am sure is simply WOW for the movie and can be ignored. It's just a prop. |

Re: Transformers Mystery Car Is The Corvette Centennial Concept!
I can't figure out if I like it or not. Definitely neat but some parts of it just look odd to me. The back is cool, I guess, but I doubt they'll loose the signature Corvette 4 round tail lights...

I'm sure we'll see some bits and pieces in the C7. I'm figuring at least on the front fascia being similar..

Re: Transformers Mystery Car Is The Corvette Centennial Concept!
I think if GM toned this show car down a bit (which I'm sure they would if it ever made it into production), it would make a splendid C7

Re: Transformers Mystery Car Is The Corvette Centennial Concept!
Exactly. I say bring the nose back a bit, but otherwise keep the profile. The rear, I don't know what to do about that, but I think that pop-up "air brakes" with additional brake lights, like they did on the Mako, would be awesome, if a bit overstated.

Re: Transformers Mystery Car Is The Corvette Centennial Concept!
Thats a nice movie set concept Corvette
But if GM is doing poor in revenue sales, why has director Michael Bay decided to use GM once again, is it because: A. GM vehicles are more appealing B. GM are vehicles that will have kids saying "Mom when I grow up I want that car" C. GM paid Michael Bay to have its vehicles featured in this production. D. toyota, nissan, honda, acura, audi, suzuki, mini cooper etc. did not make the cut and couldn't give the Decepticons a good fight. |

Re: Transformers Mystery Car Is The Corvette Centennial Concept!
It has a lot of retro queues.
And I would have no problem with the Corvette going mid-engine because it would provide GM with the platform to make the Cien, which is something Cadillac needs. A mid-engine placement would also make the car handle so much better, moving it way up in terms of performance, way beyond the scary abilities it already has. A 700+hp mid-engine Corvette would be something unbelievable in terms of handling and performance. Plus, done right, you can make it smaller and lighter... and thus scarier still to think about. |

I thought the same thing at work, and my monitor is plugged in with an HDMI cable at work.

Re: Transformers Mystery Car Is The Corvette Centennial Concept!
hmmm, i kinda like it, but don't like it...i'm definitely in the minority here when i say leave this one as a design study. reminds me of the 4 rotor vette concept form the 70s
