It's only happened six times in 60 years, and tonight has marked the seventh introduction of an all-new Chevrolet Corvette. For 2014, the Corvette sports a ground-up redesign of Chevy's flagship car; including an all-new interior and new Generation V Small Block V-8.
The 2014 Stingray only shares two parts from its predecessor showing how extensive this redesign of America's iconic sports car is. There is extensive use of carbon fibre and other lightweight materials lowering the Corvette's weight by 99 lbs. The 5th generation Small Block V8 produces an estimated 450 HP and 450 lb.-ft. of torque accelerating the Stingray to a 0-60 time in under four seconds. Not only is the LT1 powerful, it is also fuel efficient exceeding the current estimated 26 MPG highway, making it the most fuel efficient Corvette ever.
The interior features real carbon fibre, aluminum, and leather. Customers also have two seat options to choose from when buying their ideal Corvette. There are also dual fully configurable Eight-inch displays in the interior.
The Stingray also features a five-position drive mode selector that tailors twelve vehicle attributes to fit the driver's environment and a new seven-speed manual transmission with active rev matching that anticipates gear selections. The Z51 makes a comeback which incorporates an electronic limited-slip differential, dry-sump oiling system, integral brake, differential, and transmission cooling.
The 2014 Corvette Stingray coupe will go on sale in the third quarter of 2013.
