Re: Report: GM Working On Cruze XFE? Target Is 44mpg Highway
I honestly feel that the choice to not put direct injection on the 1.4L turbo motor is dumb because its not the base model engine anyways so if it added a few more bucks to that engine it wouldn't add anything to the cost to get into a Cruze.

Re: Report: GM Working On Cruze XFE? Target Is 44mpg Highway
All this discussion merely avoids the real issue. The GM Family I engines are Turkeys from top to bottom. When and/or if GM has a spare nickel it needs to design a new replacement for the the 1.4+liter to 1.9-liter "Family I" engine Family. It detrimentally affects all their small cars.
It needs to be all-alloy, DOHC, 4-valve, VVT/VVL, electronic throttle, DI chain cam-drive, capable of HCCI, and designed to handle higher pressures for turbocharging or semi-diesel operation. |
