Production Camaro Aux Gauges Caught

Production Camaro Aux Gauges Caught
GMI member Xeper catches photos of production Camaro parts.

GMInsidenews member Xeper sent us these two photos of the production Chevrolet Camaro's auxiliary gauges. The gauges reflect back on the 1960's Camaros and were shown on the concept car. Thus far we have only seen interior photos of the production car that are rendered by GM.

As noticable from the photos, the gauges include: transmission temperature, volt meter, oil temperature and oil pressure. The production gauges appear to be formed from a satin silver plastic.

Xeper also reports that the gauges are already being shipped out for assembly. This likely indicates that pilot builds of the new Camaro are starting at the Oshawa assembly plant. Production of units that actual customers can purchase begins in January of 2009.

Re: Production Camaro Aux Gauges Caught

I'm sure many coffees will be spilled all over those gauges I hope they tested them for that!

Does anybody know if the Camaro will have Navigation? The dashboard doesn't look suitable for that type of head unit.
I have photos of the production ready Camaro and the interior. I thought GM release plenty of photos of the production car? I don't understand the article in this post.

I don't like the plastic bag that covers the gauges. It interferes with my seeing the guages. Hopefully this bag will not appear on the actual production version...

Yes it will. This is a new process developed by Toyota called 'sheething'. Though, it's not environmentally friendly, this is saving the auto industry from Audi to Tata.

I love it when people take pics of things they're probably not supposed to. These sorts of threads seem to have such happy endings with someone getting walked off their job.

The Internet and sites like this drive so many people to do crazy things. Use to be a guy would snap a photo, get the film developed and then show off to his neighbors the newest tidbits of the popular cars. Now the Internet drives people to new heights to get the photo, which in this instance is just sort of "so what", and then they post it and get fame and fired!!!

Ya I thought that would be a fun one to have. Although at the times it would be the most fun to see you should have your eyes on the road, but at least the passengers could watch it.

It's been stated there will be no torque guage. And afaik no 'base' model will have these guages. I believe you have to get the 2LT V6 and 2SS V8 for them.

Or something along those lines.

I'm glad its not there. It would have been too small and if they're going to provide something like that, I want that gauge front and center on my dashboard! Replace the speedometer or something.

Re: Production Camaro Aux Gauges Caught

What torque was this gauge supposed to read?

I have a torque gauge: my arse.
Not enough go forward? Change gears. That is, unless you drive an Auto, in which case the torque gauge is even more redundant.
