But this product may also spell the end of the HHR as we know it. Between the "Orlando" and the small, Gamma CUV Chevy GMI reported Chevrolet was slated to get earlier (which will compete against the Nissan Rogue and Hyundai Tucson) - the HHR will get squeezed out and replaced by these to products together.

So instead of one HHR - Chevy will split the segment with two crossover products.

Let's just hope that GM doesn't badge engineer these for other brands in North America (No underfunded/wasted Saturn version is needed, thank you!)
The Opel/Saturn Zafira will also be built @ Hamtrammick (@ least that has been stated in other threads). It will be interesting to see how much different the sheet metal is between the Orlando and the Zafira....

I like it but not big on the overlap 7 passenger (except for smaller and increase MPG) Hopefully a price point for those who cant afford $35,000 for the Traverse! And yes it seems like 5 passenger would sufice.

>The name selection process is done by marketing<

Then everyone in marketing should be fired. These are the same bozos that came up with the name Cruze!

It would be great if this could come out the same time as the Cruze.

Re: Only@GMI: Orlando Concept to be Produced

Well done and would be a nice addition to the Cruz model line of cars. Please no Cadi version or Pontiac G23 or whatever the next G number is. Who is picking these names? Will it really be named after (1) the city of Orlando or (2) Tony Orlando and Dawn?

Does anyone else have the sinking feeling that with the auto makers scaling back large model lines - Tahoe, Escalade, etc. - dropping plans for future large RWD cars and the price of oil seeming to fall to below $100 levels that in two years the auto lots will be full of small roller skate cars that nobody wants because E85/Bio/Coal/Human Puke/ gasoline will push the price to below $2.50 a gallon.

Re: Only@GMI: Orlando Concept to be Produced

Gasoline prices are set by OPEC and oil concerns, to a smaller extent by governments. Consumer demand/fuel consumption plays a small role here. Fuel consumption in Western Europe (total) has been falling, and prices rising. Go figure.

That's what I'm seeing as well. I'm not so sure this is a good idea. I think the HHR is just the right size and shouldn't be edged out by a bigger and a smaller sibling.

Re: Only@GMI: Orlando Concept to be Produced

I kinda like the blockier look, certainly unusual for Europe these days since everything now looks like it evolved from the 1993 Aurora and 1996 Taurus. Ford is suppose to introduce a version of the C-Max here in 2011 when the next gen unit debuts in Europe. It should be a popular segment in our newly de-mini vanned/SUV market starving for fuel effecient family haulers.

Then wait for the Gamma CUV. I think with the 1.4L DI turbo this small 7 seater will still get great gas mileage.

A lot of people in this thread and the other one have said they don't want the 3rd row. Good idea on making it removable as long as it folds flat also. That provides some extra room when needed. Making it optional would be good as well for those that never need the 3rd row. I obviously want the 3rd row and look forward to this vehicle. There is a good chance I'll buy one. I'm kind of hoping for an E-Flex model personally.

The rebadges will be named after other Florida cities:
Fort Meyers, Tallahassee, Daytona (oops!), Tampa, etc, etc, etc.
