Re: OFFICIAL 2010 CAMARO STATS & SPECS released! 300hp / 422hp!

Well I have to say that I'm disappointed in a few things. The car looks gorgeous and I love the interior BUT
1) The back seat room is comparable to the physically smaller Mustang and doesn't come close to Challenger's back seat
2) No mid-tier V8. I don't need 400hp, but I want the soundtrack. Where's the L76 (G8's engine) option for the Camaro?
3) Premium fuel. The Challenger R/T and Mustang GT burn regular.

I hope that premium recommended means premium purely optional, because if not, Dodge won my vote for a sale.

Ok... time to announce that the Firebird is coming back in 2010 to help spread all the costs across 2 divisions....

Yea, I was at MAM this past April running my '02 Z06. This dude a few cars down had a black G35, he was doing all kinds of mods to his camber and caster.

Thanks. See reply above in this post. That explains why Infiniti offered that on the G.

Re: OFFICIAL 2010 CAMARO STATS & SPECS released! 300hp / 422hp!

Anyone know why the automatic version of the v8 has less hp and tq than the manual?

Is it the Displacement on demand that is forcing this? Did they have to change the cam to include DOD?

The LS3 motor kicks @ss and since its available with an automatic in the corvette I'm curious why the L99 needed to lower hp ratings?

23mpg on the highway for the new camaro V8 is impressive.

Look at the G8. Probably the best Pontiac ever made (as far as performance and handling) but it doesn't matter. No one is interested.
Perhaps, I know one person who is, and when he asked about it yesterday, his roommate, a Dodge salesman, and I let him hear about it in stereo. Both of us have had too much fun in a G8, if that's possible.

Note that this is a sports coupe, not a personal luxury coupe. The Challenger could have morphed into a Cordoba (indeed, one Mopar forum member did exactly that) with few the wiser. I have no idea if it is true for this car, but it may be that if you run regular, you get less horsepower. Aside from that, if I intended to buy the V8, it would be to kick @$$, not chew bubble gum. Keep the middle level engine to yourself if we're having a 400+ hp party without paying for more gas than that Mustang owner would.

There is actually something of the sort. There is a Prius Touring that includes 16" wheels, and, if I recall correctly, a sport suspension of some sort. Failing that, there's a T(u)RD suspension kit for the Prius. After all, in your quest to save gas, you'll want to take corners a bit faster, believe me. Why accelerate more often than you have to?

Well, I can tell you that my 1995 LT1 gets 30 mpg on the highway, but it was rated at 26. I don't think the mileage of the new car is worse than expected...the V6 just does not get great mileage, in any car. GM needs to work on getting better mileage out of it, even if it loses power in the Malibu/Aura/etc (not the Camaro).

A lot of spec sheet warriors are going to be a bit disappointed when the light goes green. 300hp sounds fine until you realize that the V6 Camaro is sporting 200+lb more than a Mustang GT and is down in terms of power by about 50lb-ft of torque. The V6 Camaro is likely a low 14 second car, but it's a 14 second car make no mistake.

2010 will be the new body/interior/chassis upgrades with existing engines. 2011 gets the good stuff, including.....

400+hp 5.0L DOHC V8 and a six speed for the Mustang GT. Weight will probably climb 50lb or so over the current model.

3.5L V6 sporting 265+hp for the V6 model, which will actually come in lighter than the current model due to the engine switch. No word yet on exactly what it will weigh, but the engine change alone suggests a base curb weight in the sub 3300lb neighborhood. If Ford manages to keep the curb weight below 3300lb and the Mustang's V6 'finds' an extra 15hp or so over the run of the mill 3.5L the V6 could be the bargain performance 'surprise' of 2011.

Re: OFFICIAL 2010 CAMARO STATS & SPECS released! 300hp / 422hp!

I can't comprehend why some folks are moaning about fuel economy. The Camaro's not about fuel economy. It's always been about power.

And 300hp in the v6. My 84 Trans Am had 2/3rds that. This thing is going to rock even with the 6. Amazing.

They'll sell lots of these. An extra $50/month over a Cobalt, Civic, or Corolla for fuel isn't any type of penalty. Hell, GM should advertise it as a car for your soul for an extra $50 - 100/month of fuel (on average).

The 3800 V6 attached to a 4-speed Auto in a 3700 lb LaCrosse has a 28 MPG rating, think what it could get with a 6-speed and if you want 260 HP you should have 280 lb-ft of Torque to go with it like a 3800 SC would give and at a lower price.

What is with 29.9" of rear leg room and a 2 passenger rear seat?

Why can't GM make a Camaro with a decent rear seat?

Other than those negatives, overall very positive - great styling, great V8 engines, MANUAL TRANSMISSIONS, a reasonable turning radius and no doubt excellent road manners.

Just hope you can get a V8 for under 30K.

I'm guessing the 4-piece interior trim kit is a direct swap for the gray inserts that were orange on the concept (the hardtop anyway). They're the ones that wrap around from the door across the dash to the other door.
I'm blown away! Total awesome execution - interior, exterior, powertrain. Yes, gas mileage sucks.......but that comes with the territory. Hopefully the general can get the turbo 4 going soon.

The options above are also very nicely done - harley davidson style marketing.....which is very effective.
