Post OFFICIAL 2010 CAMARO STATS & SPECS released! 300hp / 422hp!

From Concept To Reality. Chevy Unveils the 2010 Chevy Camaro
July 21, 2008
It's been one of the most talked about concept vehicles in automotive history. Now it's more than just a concept.

Today, at simultaneous events at the GM Tech Center in Warren, Michigan, and GM West Coast Advanced Design Studio North Hollywood, California, GM unveiled the 2010 Chevy Camaro. Sales begin in early 2009.

"The new Camaro delivers the best of both worlds – great heritage and a thoroughly modern, advanced package of performance, comfort and technology," said Ed Peper, Chevrolet general manager. "It's a sports car for a new generation of enthusiasts that doesn't forget the heritage that helped make the original a cultural icon."

And now, Camaro is returning to the streets. You'll be able to get the four-passenger, rear-wheel-drive performance Camaro Coupe in first quarter 2009 and the Camaro Convertible will follow within a year of the coupe.

A fast take on the facts

Built on the new GM global rear-drive platform, the Camaro is offered in V6-powered LS and LT models, as well as the V8-powered SS. All models and powertrain combinations include efficient six-speed transmissions.

"Camaro delivers all of the things that make Chevrolet such a revered, global brand," said Peper. "It is a car that competes with the best sports cars in its class, but does so with surprising efficiency. That is no small feat, and it took a worldwide commitment to achieve it."

The information provided below is current at time of publication. For even more product details, see the 2010 Chevy Camaro Spec Sheet and the Camaro Color Options.

23 MPG sucks. And the V6 isn't much better.

Who wants to be this will be a sales flop? Those stupid numbers on the window are the single most marketable aspect of any non luxury car right now. A lot of people won't even consider a Camaro when it gets 26 MPG at it's best.

Didn't the last Camaro get 28 MPG? Out of a pushrod? Nice progress GM.

Re: new camaro specs on chevy website

Jeez guys......The last Camaro didn't use this current EPA test cycle for it's rated MPG. The current numbers are tougher...but are more easily repeatable than the numbers of old. They shouldn't be compared really.

28 MPG is the figure AFTER being adjusted for the tougher standards. The Camaro 3800 had 31 MPG on the sticker.

So yeah. They should be compared. If GM can get 28 MPG out of a 60 year old engine, they should be able to get AT LEAST the same from a "modern" DOHC VVT V6. But apparently they can't. Freakin losers.

I think the manual is predicted to get 27 MPG. That's pretty good if you ask me.

That engine didn't have anywhere close to the power this 3.6 DI engine has. This is not the Cobalt replacement. Wait for the 2.0 DI turbo if you want a Camaro for gas milage. I don't think it will scare off anybody who is seriously looking at this type of car.

Re: new camaro specs on chevy website

well, it beat the 4000 pound rumors by 187lbs (140lbs for those with coordination challenges). I like the confirmation of the 52/48 distribution. I like that the ls3 horsepower isn't toned down.

And I love that if there is to be an over the top Camaro in the future, it will be a Z.

lol, when you said 28 mpg, I had assumed you meant the V8, because that's exactly what it was rated at.

How exactly did you "adjust" the 31 to 28?

Re: OFFICIAL 2010 CAMARO STATS & SPECS released! 300hp / 422hp!

Here are some interesting dealer options:
  • Interior trim kit - a four-piece kit offered in different colors
  • Interior accessories - items include premium, "Camaro"-embroidered floor mats, sill plates and more
  • Exterior detailing accessories - a variety of components are offered, from grille inserts and fuel doors to a High Rear Wing and Lower Ground Effects Package
  • Stripes - heritage-inspired stripes are offered in RS style for the hood or "hockey stick" style side design
  • Engine covers - available in five colors for the V6 and V8 engines
  • Wheels - split-five-spoke 21-inch wheels are offered in black metallic and polished finishes
  • Performance parts - numerous performance-enhancing components, including a tuned air intake, cat-back exhaust system, a Hurst short-throw shifter as well as more traditional GM Performance Parts.

I'm guessing the 4-piece interior trim kit is a direct swap for the gray inserts that were orange on the concept (the hardtop anyway). They're the ones that wrap around from the door across the dash to the other door.
