That's 69% more Camaros than Mustangs, sort of appropriate. Camaro is finally on a monthly pace to sell about 100K a year.

And I say it every month...but this is without a convertible (which accounted for 30% of Mustang sales when it debuted in '05) and no hi-po/special edition versions.
If the Camaro had a 'vert option right now, it might top 10,000!

Well GM doesn't want to blow their Camaro wad all at once, a staggered introduction of the V6/V8 this year, 'vert next year, Z28 the year after and then a MCE will keep sales rolling along at a manageable/profitable rate.

Yeah, the 'vert coming out next year will help offset some of the sales the Mustang picks up with new engines.

I'm glad to see the Camaro selling pretty well. The Mustang needs the competition to make it and the Camaro better. We win when there is real competition.

I guess it won't be necessary to start my own thread.
Here is the October update of the competitive sales analysis of the 2010 Camaro. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Camaro is unlikely to keep on a 100K /year pace but it's nice to see for however long it lasts.

Remember the convertible isn't on sale yet as well as a upper performance version of the car. It may stay at around 8,000 units per month for around 3 years (96,000 units sold a year). Camaro needs to get revised suspension tuning that is for sure. |

Wow, I never expected this. It is impressive that the Camaro can outsell the Mustang for a day much less 5 months. Ford must be dying.

You know, we've talked a lot of **** about old GM management, but when the chips were down, they knew exactly where to bet their last hand. Even if they never make a dime off the Camaro according to the bean-counters, this is I believe is the car that saved General Motors.
Perfect styling, perfect execution, perfect timing. The perfect car (or as close as you could get). |

Re: October Camaro production & sales numbers. Beats Mustang for 5th straight month!
I am very glad the Camaro is selling like it is. This made Ford realize it had to step the game up. I think if it wasn't for the Camaro we would probably be getting only a 10hp upgrade next year instead of 100hp.
Of course I think the new 5.0 has been in development for a while so maybe it was coming anyways but nothing wrong with good competition. I am more impressed by how each company is pulling their way out of the basement and finally making worthy cars again. |

Is Ford dying? For what it's worth, yeah. Team Mustang is pretty peeved at these results, and so many options that were 'on the table' are now getting much more attention as future add-ons for the Mustang. Mustang performance nuts will be getting their toys, for sure, as I've gone over repeatedly, but the "meat" of this market, from $23,000-$28,000, will be getting a LOT of TLC with new Mustang add-ons.
