There really isnt an option to combat these 'gimmicks', but, it is proof that 'smoke and mirrors' does actually sell products.

(While we are on the topic of Chrysler products, Caliber = Cobalt and not a Vibe and Journey = Equinox not Acadia! Man, I hate how Chysler markets their products to non-existent 'in-between' catergories.

"How come the Traverse is like $20k more than a Journey?"
"Of course the Journey is cheaper than the Traverse...it slots in a class BELOW the Traverse."
"But its got seven seats like a Traverse?"
"Yes, but the Journey is basically a 5-passenger Equinox-type vehicle that they stuck two pizza boxes in the cargo area of and called them seats. Do you really want your children (cause adults cant fit back there) to have their heads up against the rear window if there was a rear end accident???"
"Hmmmm.......but does the Traverse have 'Chill-Zone' in the glovebox?"

 x 10000)

That IS annoying! Wow I never knew.

Here is how you combat the glove box thing.
"So lemme get this straight, even if YOU'RE cold, you'd be willing to turn on the AC and lose 2 mpg just to chill your drink in a glove box... You DO know you need to turn your AC on to get the glove box cold right?"

That'll shut em up every time. I had one in my Passat, never used it once.

Also
"Huh, well that seems kinda neat, but I've never had any room to put anything in my glove box except for important information and documentation. I would think that's kind of odd... I don't have the drink near me, I'd have to open the glove box and then mess around with trying to get all of the papers to fit to close it up. The sweat from the drink will get everything wet. Yeah, I'll just leave the refrigerators to handle that for me"

There are hundreds of ways to get people to realize it's a gimmick.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought these various Chrysler products actually had two "glove boxes." One, on top, being the chill zone and a seperate one below which is a standard glove box for documentation and owners manual and whatever.

Those of you in the States probably wont have seen the commercial (unless your picking up TSN on a dish or antenna), but, a new Chevrolet commercial began airing this week on TSN (www.tsn.ca) for the Chevrolet Equinox Million Dollar Shoot Out (https://equinox.tsn.ca/default.aspx).

Ill start by saying, Im sorry! Ive googled for HOURS tonight to find the commercial but to no success

The commercial, filmed on the 7th of October, features hockey legend Bobby Orr being invited by Chevrolet to get a sneek test drive of the new Chevys. In the commercial, Orr drives (or gets to ride along in) a green Chevy Spark, a black Volt, a silver Cruze, as well as a new Camaro and Equinox on a closed track (im assuming Mosport (www.mosport.ca) just outside of Bowmanville, east of Toronto, near GM Canada headquarters in Oshawa).

"Ive owned alot of Chevrolets in my time, and id say, they're back!", exclaims Orr in the commercial.

The Volt and Cruze look absolutly stunning while moving around the track by the way! As said, I have been unable to find the commercial online, but, here is some stills originally tweet'd by GM Canada @ www.twitter.com/GMCanada:

I'd tend to agree... IMO it's even uglier than the Cruze.

Hopefully for GM, actual sales figures will prove me wrong when the cars do get here.

The thing is, the current Chevy Spark is basically the crappiest product in its class, and I'm not sure how much GMDAT did to it besides giving it new sheetmetal. It's still on the same platform, from what I've gathered (unless I'm mistaken). So I'm not overly optimistic...

It's actually a completely different platform. The former Spark was on the Alto platform. The new Spark is on Gamma II like the new Aveo. The original Gamma was Opel derived, but Gamma II is now being engineered by Daewoo.
