Re: New Chevy "Nubira" Spy Pics

Here's another pic - the ones above didn't come through for me.

No doubt this is the "tamer" Daewoo version - the Chevy version will have a different front end when it debuts and probably be closer in "feel" to the WTCC concept car from awhile back. That car had a much more aggressive appearance.

Also, keep in mind that this car will spawn a Buick variant for China (and maybe the US as well) - and there is still a question as to what direction Pontiac will take in the coming years, which doesn't rule out a G5 replacement either.

This platform and it's products will certainly be diffused throughout GM.

A change to the greenhouse and a more agressive front end and we have ourselves a ChevROlet.

It looks like a Grand Am size car. Baad idea for north america. A car that is not a corolla nor an accord...

A tweener size may be a good idea as gas prices continue to rise people may want to step down from their accord to something smaller but still in the midsize class. The Malibu has grown from 187" to 190" and will probably grow to 194-5" with the move to EpII like the size of the Invicta concept on the LWB platform. The Cobalt is currently at 180.5" I would propose to stretch it to the 183-4" range to hopefully provide usable family space. This would have the Aveo go from 169.7" to 173-4" and the five door around 162". And at the bottom would be the Beat around 140" (3 inches longer than the matiz.
Converting this to inches the overall length is around 176 inches and that is an inch shorter than the current forenza.

I think its the 5-door hatchback model that might look closer to the WTCC concept.
Judging from the shape of the grill (which has the pointed bottom like modern Chevy grills), they will probably only change the grill and not the entire front sort of like the Beat/Spark/Matiz...

Re: New Chevy "Nubira" Spy Pics

Man, they sure lost alot of personality between the WTCC Ultra prototype and the spyshots we see there. Looks nice, but most cars look 'nice' these days. Guess they want to go the safe route with the basic Chevy... hopefully the Opel version will be a bit splashier.

I think the WTCC Ultra gives us a hint of how the hatchback version of the Nubira will look like, not the sedan version.
The Beat concept(next Spark/Matiz) actually looks like a milder baby version of the WTCC Ultra.

Ah good point. Currently the sedan and wagon are quite different from the hatch, so it maybe makes sense that they will continue the differentiation in the next generation. I sure hope so... I really would love to see something close to the WTCC Ultra in production.

Re: New Chevy "Nubira" Spy Pics

The front end is the closest you can come to ape the outgoing Euro Accord (Acura TSX) without an "H" badge... The side profile pleasantly reminds me of an Audi, but there is a disturbing hint of a Sebring in the unnecessairly "faked" third window. It was all made to allow for a "coupe" roofline while at the same time providing some rear headroom (unlike in the Opel Insignia, which had this feature cancelled). I wonder why automakers compromise their designs so much rather than resurrect the formal roofline. The first one who does that will have a winner on their hands.

Re: New Chevy "Nubira" Spy Pics

Quick chop...
Version 1 (how it might look like):

I'm guessing the real opening of the grill cuts into the hood like the one on Chevy Beat(new Matiz).

Version 2 (slimmer grill)

*If the grill is like the one on the Beat, a slimmer grill might require a different hood from the Daewoo version.

*I originally posted this at carspyshots.
