I'm sure this will be in the US, no dobut about it. However, I question if this spyshot is the Opel/Vauxhall/Saturn version or the Chevy versioin. Chances are that from the look of the circle emblem on the steering wheel, it's an Opel variant. We may yet see the "global Chevy" version to be sold in the US and around the world. Quote:
But if GM is looking to create more global appeal and have commonality, I'd bet the name would go. We could get the Optra name adopted for the car world-wide ---- GM has renamed all their European offerings with the Canadian market names as vehicles are redesigned/reintroduced. As such the Kalos became became the Aveo and the Evanda became the Epica. We may see the same with the Optra. Of course there is something to be said about keeping the name for North America and a different name elsewhere...but we'll have to wait and see how this unfolds to know for sure.

![]() One of the reasons Toyota kept the name? In most global markets the Corolla has consistently been one of the best selling models in its segment. (its very popular) -------------------------------------------------- The 2008 Cobalt uses the following Ecotec engines... 148hp 2.2 liter Ecotec 171hp 2.4 liter VVT Ecotec Current Optra/Lacetti 94hp 1.4 liter E-TEC II (europe) 107hp 1.6 liter E-TEC II 119hp 1.8 liter D-TEC 119hp/126hp 2.0 liter D-TEC (some markets) I have a question about the new generation Chevy Nubira... What engines will the Asian and European versions use? Will the Ecotec engines like the 90hp 1.4 liter Twin Port, 115hp 1.6 liter VVT & 140hp 1.8 liter VVT replace the older E-TEC and D-TEC engines used by the current GMDAT Optra/Lacetti? What's more, Suzuki is moving further from GM in their development -- after GM dumped all but 3% of their stock, Nissan swooped in to make an agreement with them on product development. Suzuki is supposed to give Nissan more Kei cars for the Japanese domestic market, and Nissan is supposed to supply Suzuki with a minivan, a mid-sized vehicle and possibly a pick-up. The agreement doesnt say if those vehicles will be sold in North America or not, but certainly it's possible. Lastly Suzuki wasn't happy with the "quality related issues" of the Forenza/Reno. They may be scared off of using a 2nd generation due to warranty issues --- even if the new product shares NOTHING with the previous vehicle.

I have a question about the new generation Chevy Nubira...
What engines will the Asian and European versions use? Will the Ecotec engines like the 90hp 1.4 liter Twin Port, 115hp 1.6 liter VVT & 140hp 1.8 liter VVT replace the older E-TEC and D-TEC engines used by the current GMDAT Optra/Lacetti?[/quote] It seems that in Europe it will have the improved next generation of the existing 1,6 L and 1,8 L GM DAT engines, also the existing 2,0 L diesel from GM DAT, but due to the fact that it will be on the Delta II the strongest version (150 HP) will be probably available. |

Re: New Chevy "Nubira" Spy Pics
The styling seems pretty generic to me, but I can't really tell from staring at two spy pictures. I am going to have to wait for the reveal of the real thing.

Re: New Chevy "Nubira" Spy Pics
Here are two photos of the next Nuriba without the front and rear camo. Not sure what i looks like, looks to be a mix mash between various brands and models, maybe a miniture 5 Series or and Accord??? There are plenty of other shots, incl interior on previous pages on the site. Interior does look good tho!!!

Re: New Chevy "Nubira" Spy Pics
Oh dear, seems like GM is going the Hyundai route here... Sonata meets Civic on the outside, Volvo meets Opel GTC on the inside... This is of course a very nice car, and I can see it looking nice in both Chevy and Buick versions (though cannot somehow imagine the wagon and hatch...), but I am afraid it will get old faster than we'd want - no new doors opened here...
Still, everything to supplant the ageing Lacetti fast, and take on the Cee'd and i30! |

Re: New Chevy "Nubira" Spy Pics
I hope those altered photos are off... because that front end is quite dull. I really hope it will come out with a bit more WTCC Ultra style.
Loving that interior though... pretty trick for an entry-level car.

Yes, this is true... but I was more meaning that if this is the Chevy version it's entry-level as compared to any other versions (Opel, Buick, etc).
