what did you guys expect? GM always shows their cards too early.

However, if the TF movie spawns sequels, then perhaps when the Camaro comes out, the next movie could be around in time ????

I can't wait to see what the mark-up will be. Market adjustment. Pssh. I bet it's $10 at least. I will 'never ever' buy a car with a market adjustment. I think it's bull****.

The Challenger in my opinion is going to blow the doors off almost everything that lines up beside it on the track but will lose the pony wars due to its price

Re: Lutz Takes Camaro For a Ride Down Under

This means that the next spyshots we see of Camaro (hopefully in a couple of weeks) will be the production Camaro with camo.

I think we might even see a "prototype" at Detroit's Auto show in January if it's this close to production.

What makes you think that?

Maybe the Mustang since it will probably be at the low end of the stick by a large margin with a base V8 making only 300 or so HP.

And due to its styling. While subjective, and whereas the Challenger is poorly-done retro, Ed Welburn's Camaro is a proper 21st century interpretation of late 60's muscle design. The end results of the efforts of two Detroit brands are light years apart... in favor of the Bowtie Division.

Of course, Chevrolet wasn't perfect in its execution. The extremely premature unveiling of the Camaro Concept took away a great deal of potential momentum when it was brought to us in Detroit and again when it was shown in the Transformers movie.

I never thought of that. It would be a great idea, to get some here sooner. I don't care if the concept came out 5 years ago, I'm still interested.

Fixed it.
Its gunna be bigger then a GTO, heavier then a GTO, unless you get a hi po super expensive SRT8, then maybe you might rattle some windows on some lesser Camaros and Mustangs, but make no mistake about it, GM's got PLENTY to deal with from the power stand point.

As for the complaints its taking so long, if you want to figure it, it didnt get a real authorization till mid of 06. Its been 12 months since a green light was given. And in 14 months, production will start up.
Now if I have to go into yet another 4 paragraph rant on why GM cant make Camaro RIGHT NOW, I think people are gunna start taking vacations.

No, it wont. It wont bring it here faster, cheaper, or anything of the sort. You are talking about a unique, low production, one off car on a line that is NOT built to make a Camaro type vehicle, no machines to make the body pannels, nor anything else to make ANYTHING that is Camaro.
I can wait another year while GM slows down and rebuilds one of the best plants in North America. I dont want mistakes, I dont want problems, I want flawless builds, or as close as flawless they can get.
Dont rush it. Rushing it makes mistakes, and problems, and even worse...compromises.

I still think they are lagging it... Camaro Development should have started since before the end of the 4th gen camaro.

Re: Lutz Takes Camaro For a Ride Down Under

Should have, but the car was canned in the mid 90's. There is a very long and drawn out stroy about where Camaro was going to go, and there WAS some research on the 5th gen done in the mid 90's. But, due to upper management, they said that only Vette and Caddy will have RWD cars, and that the Camaro people were moving into suv's and trucks, so they gave the Fbody a simple once over for 98 and that was the end.

Re: Lutz Takes Camaro For a Ride Down Under

if the rumors are true 6.4 liter hemi is in the works for the challenger but since their is no base v6 and no cheap 22k to 24k range for the challenger that is the only reason why it's gonna lose out. Not styling if anything the styling is 100 times better then the camaro's. Not really a fan of the new camaro's look really prefered the last gen but I also like the 70 camaro's style.

Re: Lutz Takes Camaro For a Ride Down Under

Ya know what I can't wait for?

All the bitchin that is gonna take place when the camoed Camaro rears its pretty little head and there are some farely big changes like a B-Pillar on it for the safety specs and the side mirrors aren't as thin and elongated but rounder and stubbier.

THAT is going to be a fun day on these boards that will easily fill to 100 pages of gripes by lunchtime that said day.

Challenger will get a V6, but pricing will probably start in the mid 20's.
As for its styling, I guess that varries from person to person. IMO, the Challenger is rather ugly. Dont like the 70's version, dont like the warmed over look now.

From what I've read GM Aus couldn't do it - well wouldn't have the capacity, but it is worth a daydream.
