I wouldn't hate too strongly about the sheetmetal stampings still being in use from Ford... look at how long GM ran the Astro van, and has been running the Express van virtually unchanged.
Big GMT-400 fan, but those year Super Duty's nailed it in the looks dept. Not sure why some are grasping at straws at sheet metal stampings staying the same.

I'm not hating on Ford here. I'm just kind of disappointed that the Super Duty's overall appearance in 2015 is identical to its appearance in 1999. The F150 changed twice, so why can't the Super Duty trucks change?
That truck on top is an '05 at oldest. By the wheels I believe it is in fact an '05 with the XLT sport package.
I loved the look of the GMT-400 1-ton "Big Dooley", it's just a shame the 6.5 was the only diesel option at the time. It was no competition for the 7.3 Powerstroke or the Cummins.
My dad had a '99 F-250 with the 5.4 and it was a damn good truck. He followed that with an '02 F-350 with the same engine and it also proved to be a great truck. The build quality of those trucks major surpassed his current '07 Sierra Duramax. If the Ford's weren't so damn ugly I'm sure he would get another.
Ford came out with a home run. It's still a good truck after all these years. GM made a good effort to catch up in 2011, then finally put the final touch on it in post August 2014 production of the 2015's. I'm a GM fan, but can't ding Ford for one of their best products ever.
It was a size thing. The Ford looked bigger and tougher. And that translated into good perception in the market. That Chevy dually may as well have been an S10 sitting there it looks that small to my eyes. I was working at a Ford dealer when this body SD came out, and I said it then, it was massive. Changed the game for sure.
I was a junior in high school when these came out. I remember seeing a white, quad-cab, long-bed, SRW, 4x4 F-250 in a parking lot. I must've been staring because the father of my then-GF slapped me on the back and asked me if that's what I wanted to drive. I was just dumbfounded how large the thing was.
The were and still are all over SE Texas and I still can't imagine ever needing a truck that large.
Edit: nothing against anyone who does choose one. There certainly are plenty of buyers who use their "Super" Duty trucks to full capacity. Almost as many who use them as commuters and keep the extra capability in reserve for weekend tows.
"No, but you can change the styling of the handle can't you?"
Sure, if you want to run up the cost. But since commercial vehicles are bought based on lowest bids it looks like the folks at Ford know their market very well, and how to hang on to it. If I needed a truck like this (I'm not a fan of pickups for daily transportation, prefer a van in that footprint size) I'd be thinking the same way. I've owned both Fords and Chevys when I have needed a truck and would be content with either, regardless of styling.
Yes as your picture shows... all stampings are different but the style is essentially the same - some more square edges and less round curves, but in only minor detail like edges of headlamps and etc.
Even all the stylistic touches are still there, just slightly modified - the square bulge around the wheel wells, the 'power dome' on the hood, the quad-headlight thing... and they've been there before - the grille/headlight thing looks more like the mid 90's GMT400's, the bigger bulges on the wheelwells remind the 73-91 ish model...
If you compare a '99 Malibu to a 2014, the style has changed considerably - but the trucks haven't moved anywhere.
It's a pickup truck at the end of the day. They're all going to look similar.
The Ford truck's cabs in the picture I posted look identical. Nothing has changed in terms of cab styling since 1999 on Ford Superduty trucks.. GM at least changed the styling three times (!) from 1999 to now on their HD trucks.
Damn...the size difference is ridiculous! It's not like the GMT-400 K3500 were small by any means, but Ford really supersized the SuperDuty trucks. I still prefer the smaller GMT-400. I'm not sure what the size brought the SuperDuty but some interior room and more weight.
