It was 14 years between the previous redesign of the previous C4 Corvette, and the new for 1997 C5. And with that much time you’d expect the new one to be an improvement on its predecessor. But even so, the magnitude of the transformation was greater than anticipated.

I still really enjoy my first Corvette - a 2003 TR Z51 MN6 coupe. The development and innovation of the whole C5 program is an interesting story on its own merit, but especially if someone has a passion for the Corvette. All Corvettes are Red is a compelling read documenting the story of the C5.

I used to be able to ring off all the changes in LS1 years quicker than my kids birthdays, but I'm losing it in my advanced (35) age.

Basically try to get an '01+, as they inherited a lot of LS6 parts stock, the most important being the intake/exhaust manifolds, and clutch.
