Re: Local review: 2010 Chevrolet Equinox

Some thoughts:

- It looks so much more upscale than the Vue did when it came out vs. the competition of its time.
- Gas mileage is very nice with the I4
- Acceleration is a disappointment (7.8 0-60) with the V6...but I'll withhold final judgment until I see a real magazine tests one (like Car and Driver).
- I like it

How is the Equinox production going? Is it at full production right now? Any problems worth mentioning?

I have a relative shopping in this segment right now. I've been trying to keep her from buying a CR-v because the Equinox is clearly a superior vehicle. The trouble is that the dealerships in her area are slow to get new products so they don't have any of the 2010's yet. I think if I can get her to sit in the new Equinox she will definitely have to think twice about purchasing a CR-v.

I agree, we have a 2005 CRV that the lease is up in August. Just ordered a 2010 LT2 Equinox. A base 2009 CRV EX cost $34250 Canadian including destination. The base LT2 plus sunroof to make it comparable to the CRV cost
$34265. I added Chrome Package, Power Lift Gate and Security Cargo Cover which brought the total to $35780.

Now lets try and add the options to the CRV that are included with the LT2:
Remote Start - $620.78
Extra Remote Key Phob - $211.79
CRV iLinc - $354
Auto Day/Night Mirrors with Compass - $655.48
Cargo Cover - $279.35
Back Up Sensors - $890.60
Fog Lights - $604.20
Tailgate Spoiler - $470.77

Thats $4086.97 in options bringing the price of the CRV to $38336.97 which is over $2556.97+ the extra tax more. And you have to have all that stuff installed at the dealer so they rip apart you new vehicle to put it in.

And there are more options you can't get on a CRV, like auto headlights, XM, Onstar, bluetooth(probably more I just can't think of them). The one thing the CRV's have that you can't get on the NOX is the express up on the drivers side window which is nice to have.

Can't wait for the NOX to arrive.

Good Review but as others have said and I will say I don't care for the outside I like the 2005-2009's. But the interior is great it will really shut up complaints of poor interiors.

CR-V = Blown out of the water.

Can't wait to rub the Equinox in the face of my CR-V driving friend.

Re: Local review: 2010 Chevrolet Equinox

My uncle was about to buy a '10 Equinox to replace a 1996 Accord that he thought the engine was knocking in. He called me over to Montgomery a week or two ago to fix the A/C so he could sell the car easier, and I found that it was the A/C compressor doing the knocking! Plus I was able to fix that compressor rather than have to put in another. I kinda regret fixing the stupid Honda now, lol--at least I saved them a lot of money! He's still getting an Equinox, but the Honda stays and he won't be getting the 'nox for another few months (when they have to give back a Tourag they are borrowing for the summer--complicated situation; they're a 5 driver household)

Re: Local review: 2010 Chevrolet Equinox

Most reviews have not mentioned all the features. This vehicle blows away the competition in feature count. None of its competitors have memory, remote start that controls the heated seats, back up camera not linked to nav, 40GB hard drive, ability to record live music or programmable liftgate. furthermore the RAv4 has standard 4 speed auto and CRV lacks a V6 or 6 speed auto. The CRV is ugly as sin and proof positive that anything Honda makes will sell. On top of that the CRV is 200lbs less than the Nox and gets less mileage in spite of having 16 less standard hp.

SOP was less than one month ago, no major problems, and the line is almost up to full speed. I believe the ramp up gives 24 days from SOP to full production, so yesterday might have been that day. Terrain trials have also been running, so it is a very interesting time at Cami.

Re: Local review: 2010 Chevrolet Equinox

If I could only get beyond 2010 Equinox's incredibly ugly snout, I would give the car a B+. A good friend just purchased a new V-6, 6-speed auto Escape. I am very impressed with how it looks and drives. I hope the Equinox is as good.
