Re: Local review: 2010 Chevrolet Equinox

When my Saturn Aura lease expires late this summer this will be one vehicle I will consider. I never even thought of this one before. I even took pics of the new nox at the Detroit Auto Show and then kind of forgot about it.

It isn't that the competition is bland.. it is just that they are standout UGLY. The CRV especially has got to be one of the ugliest snouts in history... especially the sideprofile of the front clip.

Re: Local review: 2010 Chevrolet Equinox

I have seen a few new Equinoxes at local dealerships in the last few days, and I have one major styling complaint....the 4 cylinder LS and LT models without the foglights...they plastic piece they put in the spot the foglights would go in looks terrible. What they should have done is something more like what they did on the Malibu (put a Chrome strip across that location.)

Other than that I like it.

I agree, the plastic strip does look sorta awkward...

Re: Local review: 2010 Chevrolet Equinox

I wish more reviewers would mention the automatic and entry/exit perimeter lighting, programmable DIC and remote start with climate control activation. The CR-V offers none of this and you have to get a Limited or Sport RAV4 just to get automatic lighting. These are convenience features you really appreciate after you have them.

Both the current and the 2010 model are good looking to me. Just in different ways.

The 2010 has a more 'luxury' appearance while the current model is more rugged and masculine.

I know a couple people that have an Equinox (one is an '05 and I don't know the others) and they love them.

I know I think our '08 Equinox Sport is the best looking SUV in it's segment. And it's a great vehicle. Especially as far as roominess is concerned. Which is something we need now more than when we first got it since my new 2010 Camaro isn't ideal for traveling with friends. LOL

Well, in the guys defense, he did say it started around the same price as the others but was better equipped. And that there were things he just didn't have time to show off in the piece. But you have a good point.

Oh, I wasn't picking on this guy in particular. In fact, he did a pretty good job trying to convey his impression and convince the reporter guy that it's a great car. I just mean in a general sense I wish those features were brought to light.

I'll be sure to point all those things out to friends when I suggest the new Equinox when they're looking for a vehicle.

Though, most people I know only want to look at Toyota or Honda's... When I offer a suggestion of a GM car they all (I feel) assume I'm just saying it because I'm an American car (specifically GM) fan and go on about how American cars aren't as good as foreign. It gets annoying.

I even remember talking to one about how American cars tend to be better equipped for the price than their japanese counterparts. His response was that they have to offer more for the price to compete (meaning because the japanese cars are SO reliable the American ones can only try to woo you with features essentially).

You know...I think this guy is the only automotive reviewer who actually gives fair reviews.

Every time I see my aunt get into her Accord at night I ask if she'd like me to light the path with my Silverado's perimeter lighting that Honda doesn't offer.

As for trying to convince the converted, I know exactly how you feel. My aunt is one of those people. I try, but after a while I just don't care.

Re: Local review: 2010 Chevrolet Equinox

The difference in interior design between the 2010 Equinox and its primary competitor, the 2009 CR-v, are remarkable.

How many different shades of grey can Honda come up with?

from MotorTrend review:

"Compare interiors side by side with the chief competition, Ford Escape, Jeep Liberty, Honda CR-V, Hyundai Santa Fe, and Toyota RAV4, and the Chevy eats 'em up and spits 'em out."

If it wasn't for the two or three items of colour (guage dials etc.) it looks like you are comparing a B&W pic of the Honda to a full colour of the 'Nox.

I see a few hundred a day, and still I find the 2010 very attractive, especially and LTZ in red with chrome wheels, a very expensive looking, and attractive vehicle.

Do you work at the Ingersoll plant?

Having just completed a trip to Gainesville, Florida and back (about 240 miles) in my 2.4l 6sp auto, I can tell you...a very impressive 36.7mpg. And that included some "city" driving through Ocala.
