Our own Nick Saporito is currently in Detroit following the unveiling of GM's latest full-size truck offerings from Chevrolet and GMC. Here are some live shots of GM's new full-sizers from the event. Both trucks were revealed this morning to the media.

The complete specifications and details of the new trucks can be found here.

Overall I like the updates that are done, but I am not finding myself super excited by what I am seeing. Not sure why.

Nice mid-cycle refresh......uh-oh, supposed to be a whole new truck.

Re: Live Shots: 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra

I really like the new GM twin interior….

Ah, wait….that was a Ram. Whoops, my bad. Can hardly tell the difference, which is not a bad thing. Rams are very nice trucks and pose the biggest threat to the GM camp.

GM quit building great trucks in 1972
GM quit building good trucks in 1987
GM quit building decent trucks in 2006
GM quit building trucks in 2007. I am not a fan of the GMT900 body designs or body quality.
2014 is a definite improvement over the prior GMT900 ugly trucklings!

For the length of time it took to develop these trucks... I was sure hoping for more! This is REALLY disappointing in my opinion!!!!

Hopefully all of the changes are behind the scenes... for example, maybe you can confidently buy a Silverado or Sierra now and not have to worry about the fenders, wheel wells, rockers, or tailgate rusting out in 4-6 years.

I think they plain look weird.

    Weird is the word.

    Interior is weird.

Silverado grille... weird. (I lost my chain link fence. I know where it went.)

    Square wheel wells... weird.

Gm screwed up again. This is a follow on to the Malibu.

That fake wood grain has got to go... I'd be wrapping that in vinyl or scuffing and painting it pretty much immediately.

I hate to admit this... but I feel like the Nissan Titan was the benchmark for this generation, which is sad because the Nissan came out with the Titan the same time as the previous generation GM trucks.

Features already on the '07 Titan (at same time as GMT900 release)
    -Inset door seams
    -Tailgate dampening
    -"Enhanced" bed tiedowns
    -LED lighting in bed
-Side storage pockets on side of center counsel
-Center stack looks almost identical... (given a 6-7 year difference)

Does anyone else see this? This isn't exactly class leading, but more catching up.

Small detail, but I really like the placement of the Z71 decals/emblems. The grille Z-71 placement reminds me of the location of the classic 350, 400, and 454 logos. Nice touch!

I dunno... They don't look bad, but the Silverado really doesn't look very different from the front. The interiors look better which is one of the biggest areas where it needed to catch Ford and Ram. They're not huge changes in terms of exterior styling, but it just might be enough.

I'd be shocked if one isn't offered. Either way, most bed covers these days have locking mechanisms in them... my Fold-a-Cover has one that also locks the tailgate even though it already has a separate lock.

Re: Live Shots: 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra

    Yeah...... Not good.

Blue colour on the silverado is gorgeous, I like how it seems that the buttons on the steering wheel are weatherproof not that I think that would ever be an issue.

Front end on that brown silverado looks horrible, the interior is just atrocious I know I've said it in other threads but I just really feel that strongly about it, I'll reserve final judgement until I see one in person but I am seriously seriously unimpressed.

I look forward to NSAPs thoughts about seeing them live as he's really been calling it like it is lately and I've found myself agreeing with a lot of his opinions.

If GM truly believes they knocked this one out of the park and this is the best they could come up with then I really believe its still OLD GM operating as usual, between this and the Malibu launch I just don't know...
