Re: The Last Chevrolet Monte Carlo Rolls off The Line
I expect my personal luxury to handle well and to be pretty quick. This car did none of that well. A little too big and heavy.

May the MC return as a RWD V8 some day in the future.

Re: The Last Chevrolet Monte Carlo Rolls off The Line
I still don't understand why there is no replacement or at least a Coupe version of Impala or Malibu. This is another sector that GM is abandoning when they should be offering new exciting product. There are lots of people who prefer sporty Coupes to 4 door Sedans. I am one of them!

Kind of sad to see it go. I haven't liked them at all since the 1980s models. I guess its the enthusiasts I feel bad for. It sucks losing the car you love with no immediate hope on the horizon.

Re: The Last Chevrolet Monte Carlo Rolls off The Line
I really do hope that they make a new Monte Carlo from the ZETA platform.
Offer it in only one trim level......V8 with only a couple of options...like NAV, sunroof, wing in the back XM. If they keep the options low it won't cost that much to produce. Price it at $35,000 and make only about 30,000 of them a year if that!

Re: The Last Chevrolet Monte Carlo Rolls off The Line
I don't know how they ever sold any Montes with that wavy back bumper from a few years back. Case in point, I was in my car with a friend. We were driving behind a Monte.
Me: You see that wavy bumper? Him: Yes. Me: That's not melted. It's on purpose, you know. Him: For real? You are lying. In my opinion, I think it's sad that they could have made this a real killer, stylish coupe, but they either lacked the skill or desire to do so. There was nothing wrong with the name. I liked it. |

Re: The Last Chevrolet Monte Carlo Rolls off The Line
So now Chevys only coupes will be the Corvette and Cobalt? Quite the gap there, I guess there is the G6. And the only 4-5 passenger coupes offered by GM will now be the G6 and Cobalt/G5? They sure have trimmed down that category of vehicles, but on the brightside there are a million and 1 SUV's to choose from.

Re: The Last Chevrolet Monte Carlo Rolls off The Line
It is always sad to see long lived or legendary nameplates go away. It had a good run:
1970-1987 and 1995-2007 You do miss them even if they were not were they originally were. |

Re: The Last Chevrolet Monte Carlo Rolls off The Line
The end of a historic name. Again. I like the Monte... hopefully resale prices will tank and I can pick one up cheap in a few years!
