The Last Chevrolet Monte Carlo Rolls off The Line
"The Last Chevrolet Monte Carlo comes off the line Wednesday, June 20th at 11:00am." "There are special plans for the last two Monte Carlo models. The last model will be placed in the General Motors Heritage Centre, a contemporary meeting facility filled with 100 years of automotive history, located in Sterling Heights, Michigan. The second to last Monte Carlo production unit will be sent to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway to appear at the Brickyard 400 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series race on July 29. All Chevrolet race drivers will sign the car and it will be sent to Charlotte, North Carolina for auction." Anonymously sent as a news tip. - Ming Source: Car Plant Auto News Last edited by Ming : 06-20-2007 at 01:57 PM. |

Re: The Last Chevrolet Monte Carlo Rolls off The Line
Guess it was about time for it to head out...what a way to do it as well
I suppose now Chevy teams will be using "Impalas" to race in NASCAR?

Re: The Last Chevrolet Monte Carlo Rolls off The Line
I wonder what trim the last Monte will be. Hopefully a fully loaded SS model. I hate the way the last generation Taurus went out. It deserved better than that but the new model may make up for it.

Re: The Last Chevrolet Monte Carlo Rolls off The Line
Walking through the plant a few days ago I saw a few Montes still on the line, presumeably the last batch of Montes. Looks like Plant 1 will be running Impalas only for a while.

Re: The Last Chevrolet Monte Carlo Rolls off The Line
we sold the last monte we had saturday. it was like to the one in ming's pic. except it was a black SS. as a chevy guy it's always hard to see old nameplates go away. but this car had quit selling many years ago. we've sold 2 in the last year, including the one saturday.

Re: The Last Chevrolet Monte Carlo Rolls off The Line
The Monte Carlo had a good run. It was just plagued with bland styling and people moving away from personal luxury coupes.

the "car of tomorrow", as chevy calls it, is an impala. they've used it in select races already this year. ![]()

Good riddance. Not to be harsh, but the sooner GM rids its portfolio of uncompetitive products like this, the sooner it can replace them with contemporary, class-leading offerings.

Re: The Last Chevrolet Monte Carlo Rolls off The Line
No tears shed here! I know most of you guys are fans of that car, but I'm glad to see that 4-wheeled-wart-on-a-witch's nose gone.
Maybe a stylish SWB coupe off the upcoming Zeta Impala could be a revived MC. But GM, here's a clue: 70s styling doesn't work in this millenium! Leave disco balls and polyester leisure suits where they belong — in the past! |

Re: The Last Chevrolet Monte Carlo Rolls off The Line
I always liked the small grille or lack of one on the 2000-current monte carlo. The car was way too big for a 2 door car though. I am sure there will be Montes on dealer lots for another 6 months, and once the Camaro comes out no one will miss the Monte Carlo at all.
