Re: How Will UAW Strike Impact Chevy Malibu? Should GM Redirect ($$$) Shoppers To Imp

I ordered and purchased a new 2008 Impala LTZ last Fall. The quality was poor and the airbag system malfunctioned with less than 1,000 miles on the car. Review here: 2008 Impala LTZ

GM's labor troubles will continue to drive customers away from them, and to Toyota and Honda. Labor trouble = poor quality vehicles and dissatisified customers.

When will GM and the labor unions realize they are in a downward spiral?

I think we all know your LTZ story. The numbers don't back your claim that it's a troublesome car though. Impala is pretty darn well made and reliabile. Every company makes a lemon once in a while.

Customers will re-direct themselves. Hopefully not to the competition.

That sounds like a good plan but my question is what is the strike all about? What is there to stop the UAW from striking at Orion to support their "union brothers"? I wonder who the UAW will cry to when they run GM out of business or out of the country.

Man, you have the worst luck with GM cars. Our 2007 Tahoe has needed one trip to the dealer for an oil pressure sender and that's it. We're up to 60,000 miles now, too. The 2005 Ion we had was trouble-free, too. Both late 4th-gen F-bodies I had never required a single repair, and one of them logged many of it's 70,000 miles a quarter-mile at a time at WOT.

I know GM's stuff isn't THAT trouble-free, so reality is most definitely is somewhere in the middle of your experience and mine.

I have 20 Impala's that are held up due to the AMAXL strike. I have more Malibu's than Impala and Cobalt. Even used Impala prices have gone up significantly. But May 22nd some good programs will start. Forget the rebates on cars that are not available. How about we sell some trucks with a nice combe APR compatible with bonus cash, Aveo's too!

That is hilarious but unfortunately, that commercial is stuck in my head as well. Still, your post hilarious. Not worth the cost to my psyche but hilarious nonetheless.

There's nothing "free" about freecreditreport.com, and everything they do you can with just a little effort.

The problem I have with pushing car buyers into a heavy rebated Impalas is that the buyers highest priority is gas mileage...the Malibu has much better MPG's

It's good to hear the Malibu is doing well but this strike really bothers me. I hope it will get resolved before it seriously starts to affect Malibu production.

WTF are these strikes about? The UAW wont be happy as long as the general has one thin dime left in its kitty. Thats about all they have so the UAW babies want it.
