Yuck to the car or yuck to the stripes?

The cars is a rendering done by an auto site, I added the headlights from the SS reveal video, and then the wheels and stripes as a Rally Pack. I added the Rally Pack in responce to people calling the car too plain. Commodore VE here has paint stripe options.

The car itself is pretty much the frontal look you will get with the SS...

I'm going to guess yuck to the stripes, the ones in your render are not GM style stripes, you'd be more likely (at least in the USDM, I don't know about Australia) to find those style of stripes on a Mustang.

P.S. The car in the bottom pic is gorgeous (I was considering a very similar stripe package for my Camaro before I decided on the 45th).

I'd probably get ATS Premium 3.6 for $48K. This car make no sense over $45K. A 3.6L Impala LTZ is $36K. An XTS bases at $44K. This car should base in the high 30's and top out whereever it wants, so long as I can get one for $40K with the options I need.

From what the article says, you won't have many options to choose.

Thats gonna bring the price up.

It sucks. I cant buy tbis car because I'll waste my money, and it'll be a hassle getting a Cadillac because all the dealers in the Chicago area suck. Whether it was Steve Foley and their sales managers taking all the ATS' to go golfing, Patrick forcing me out of the dealer, or Motorwerks expecting me to out $15K down payment on a lease. They're all idiots.

Chevelle or Nova would have been better, IMO
Steve-you hit it out of the park with Chevelle. That name would have fired up many former owners if it had a few heritage inspired styling cues. While no doubt it will be a nice car, naming it SS will only confuse people and increase the advertising expense.

I had the chance to talk with one of Chevy's top marketers a few years back and mentioned I didnt understand how they could let historic names like Chevelle and Bel Air sit unused. I did not get a reply. I know more than a little about automotive consumer insights: http://www.businessweek.com/bwdaily/...521_339302.htm

Look for the SS to be more expensive due to changes in the US-Aussie exchange rate. In 2009, when the GXP came out, one US dollar equaled $1.60AUS, today that US $ is worth only .96 AUS. This will be a limited run and probably not turn a profit.

north of 40K there are a LOT of other choices like the ford Taurus SHO the ATS / even a CTS can be had for that money or a charger SRT8 superbee is 42K
but I think the "volume" buyers will be the Charger R/T G8 / CTS and Impala SS buyers and to "service" them 36K - 38K

$40K is fine. Mid-40's is pushing it.

I don't understand how this company is run. They seem to squander every advantage they might have.

If it really wants to be a four door halo sports car...it's going to need a model with MRC and the LSA.

See my previous post about bringing over a next-gen HSV Grange, I think that would fit the bill to a T.

The current Grange has MRC, and if Chevy wants this to be a true four-door Corvette, it's gonna need an LSA variant to meet the 'Vette's performance.

I see a lot of the USA guys are worried at the price being over $40K.

I guess it all depends on how many standard features it will have.

$45k may sound a lot but if the car comes loaded with features (which from all reports it will) it may be fair value.

    Only time will tell.

    Steve,
They build a great product. I only buy/drive GM products. Their marketing could use an upgrade. Mark, your hr staff knows how to get ahold of me.
