Re: GMI's Revitalization in Action | The Dream Chevrolet Lineup
Wow, talk about a nice replacement for that old in the tooth Monte Carlo!! Love that Chevelle, now that would be a worthy competitor to the Accord Coupe and the Altima Coupe.
I think all these cars are really what Chevies should look like, the outside as well as the inside. Nice, distinctive styling at last. I like the agressive thin headlights on most models here. The only little sour note for me is the high tail lights on the Vette, too much like late model ferraris. G.Loizou should work at Chevrolet Design! Heck, make him president!!

Re: GMI's Revitalization in Action | The Dream Chevrolet Lineup
I love what you have done!
However it is too logical for GM to do it. The money counters will be more concerned with the short term desire to support the value of stocks by not spending money. If they do follow a path like you have blazed, my 11 yr old will buy one of the cars to celebrate her first post college car. GM moves to slowly to bring it about quickly Last edited by THE_SMURF : 12-05-2007 at 06:01 PM. |

Re: GMI's Revitalization in Action | The Dream Chevrolet Lineup
You guys are making a lot of improvements to your RIA projects, but I feel they still somehow lack, mainly in a few details that I know would never make it to production. Like the Malibu's transmission switchgear, something like that would never get the greenlight for production. Then there's the repetition of the Volt concept intakes on the lower fascias of most of your cars ... and yet they're not on the actual Volt production car?
Also, you can consolidate a lot of your lines. For example, the Aveo can take the Beat name, as they are on the same platform (Gamma) and, in reality, share engines, drivetrains, and interiors. Just some things to focus on in the future. |

Re: GMI's Revitalization in Action | The Dream Chevrolet Lineup
The chevelle concept is awesome, but there is no room for it to be on the zeta platform as a 2 door alongside the camero. Send it to pontiac with some minor changes to the grill and make that the firebird/GTO or whatever you want to call it.
Also the caprice is an extended malibu essentially. there isnt a need to have 2 full size sedans in the lineup. Make the impala have the option of AWD (as Zeta was intended to have) and you no longer need the caprice. My other suggestion is still up in the air, but think it could work. Take the cobalt out of the chevy lineup as there is already many midsize options. Give it to pontiac and there is the G4. With the volt and the nomad/bel air i think chevy doesnt need the cobalt. People looking for a small sporty ride should then go to pontiac. I say this to reinforce the brands marketing points. (chevy should be economical, practical, affordable and pontiac should be sporty and muscular) Then the chevy modelLineup would look like this: Chevrolet Beat- Hatchback Mini Car, Gamma, Fiat 500 Chevrolet Aveo- Subcompact, Gamma, Sedan/5-Door Hatchback, Yaris Chevrolet Volt - Upper Compact, Delta II, Prius Chevrolet Malibu- Mid-Size, Sedan/Coupe/Convertible/Wagon, EPII, Camry Chevrolet Bel Air & Nomad- Mid-Size, Convertible/SportWagon, Alpha, Eos Chevrolet Impala- Full-Size Sedan, Zeta, 300C Chevrolet Camaro- Full-Size Sports Coupe, Zeta, Mustang Chevrolet Corvette- Full-Size Sports Coupe, Y-Body Pontiac should look something like this: Pontiac G4 - compact sedan/coupe Pontiac G6 - midsize sedan/coupe/conv. Pontiac G8 - Full-size sedan Pontiac Firebird/GTO - Full-size coupe Pontiac Solstice(or different name) - compact roadster just my 2 cents. This is also based on not having seen the SUV/CUV's that could be along side these models |

love the chevelle, malibu, and cobalt....the others look good too, allthough i can hardly tell the difference between the mali and the caprice.

The Chevelle looks amazing! I like the update for the Cobalt as well. To me, the Nomad front end doesn't look proper.

Re: GMI's Revitalization in Action | The Dream Chevrolet Lineup
There are some awesome designs here, guys. Great work. I can't say I like the Dodge Avenger-esque headlights on the Impala, but I agree that it needs something to set it apart from the rest of the lineup. And yes, the Vette looks too much like a last-gen Sunfire with those headlights.
The Bel-Aire is so far above and beyond the actual Concept from a few years back.

Re: GMI's Revitalization in Action | The Dream Chevrolet Lineup
This is an interesting post. Appreciate the Photoshop skills.
I had to comment on this once I saw it. Although I like a few...the rest are all too edgy for my taste. They are Photoshopped compilations of current models/concepts. Most of them look like a cross between the Volt and the Malibu. I like the Volt but the Malibu could have been better. All the current models have the same old grille opening. I know the newer look seems more advanced compared to what's out there but does not make for great design. I also like the new Camaro but would not translate well across other model designs. What happened to individual identity? Just my own opinion. DV DVDesign - Portfolio

Re: GMI's Revitalization in Action | The Dream Chevrolet Lineup
I especially like the C7 Corvette concept. This drawing of the proposed C7 looks much more compelling than the current car. It almost reminds me of the '63-'67 Stingray (which as we all know are the most beautiful of all Corvettes
) the way it gets your immediate attention. It seems to have less overhang and much more sharply defined features than either the C5 or C6. I'm not too sure about the "scallops" in the spoiler above the tail lights, a design feature which may be influenced by the Ferrari F460, but overall the car looks very attractive. It's nice to see the horsepower keeps going up too, but knocking another 150-200 pounds off the car would also help and shouldn't be too difficult, especially if the car gets a little shorter as its rendering indicates.I also like the Impala (esp. with a 500+ HP 427; DROOL! ), and the Chevelle. Even the Caprice and Malibu (although both FWD, and therefore not to my liking) look good. Bravo, GM stylists. Now let's work on the quality...not "perceived" quality, but ACTUAL quality. Some people will always buy the packaging, but only by providing CONTENT to back it up will GM's sales turn around in the long-term. |
