Re: GM takes off camo of Camaro
I still hate those ugly lozenge-shaped tail lights, but the car overall is very attractive. I think four round tail lights would look better, but that's my opinion.
I'm not so much impressed that it kept true to the concept, but how it so closely echoes the '67-'68 models (the only Camaro I ever liked!). |

Re: GM takes off camo of Camaro
Nice shot. The interior captured on autoblog is definitely pre-pre production. What we will see with production will be much better.

Re: GM takes off camo of Camaro
We need to serve up a big helping of crow to all the posters that claimed the side creases and vents were gone when the camo'ed spy shots were released. The production version definitely follows the concept's lead.

Re: GM takes off camo of Camaro
Looks like there wont be any Camaro's at NAIAS except Bumblebee with some new rims via FBody father.
I think its a good idea, but showing a car doing a burn out or something would really get the people talking, just look at how loaded the servers were today. And to the above poster, the V6 will make or break this car. GM can always sell a low volume of V8 cars...forever. But the V6 is what makes it possible for the V8 to exist. Hopefully we can see the DI v6 with 300 hp. |

Re: GM takes off camo of Camaro
I'm liking these pre production pics but this one seems to be missing the rear spoiler that was on the concept car i hope this makes it to production because for me it added just a little bit more of retro camaro and gave the car more personality. Also whats up with the shifter on those interior shots? the rest of the interior is pretty decent if you can ignore all the cheap looking plastic. but that shifter is ugly as hell.

I'm starting to get excited. A retiree, employee discount, and some bonus cash and I might be driving one; if I could break even or not lose much on one. I would definitely if it was built here. |

The only good looking part about it are the gauges on the dash. Holy ****. I had a feeling this car was going to be disappointing. I never knew it was going to look completely repulsive inside. I'm gonna stop now. But I shouldn't. Please tell me that's a hoax. PLEASE! Last edited by 2648562 : 01-03-2008 at 10:57 PM. |

Re: GM takes off camo of Camaro
I think that the spy photography angle and pissing off Brenda Priddy misses a very simple point. The concept car is out, has been for a long time. The only thing he would have had to lose is if the production car turned out to bear little relation to the concept.

Re: GM takes off camo of Camaro
People need to quit sweatin the interior. All preprod mules look that way. leather trims aren't there, chrome bezels and accents arent there, most of the plastic is resin pour, abs molded, or first shot no grain. Its always this way, the interiors exist in form to validate engineering function and validation of the thousands of things that need to be blessed, proto interiors are last and least there to win a beauty contest. Also the one Priddy shot was a powertrain proto which in the pecking order of which cars get the best interior parts they are at the bottom of the heap. Now the interior development guys bet the wimpy motor combo and the worst exterior stuff or worse a body with no chassis or engine just an interior. But their interior parts are the best stuff for obvious reasons which is why its rare to catch a good interior in a rolling prototype and by the time someone gets a shot of one the hvac or powertrain guys have had it apart and back together so many times the screw holes are wore out and race tape is required to hold it together.
![]() Did you know all proto's are white because white is the cheapest paint per gallon to use? thats if your lucky. sometimes we just get primer. Wheels are usually billet machined and represent diameter, weight offset, and basic spoke design for brake cooling, chassis tuning and usually are adaptable to wheel transducer mounts in the centers, however their usually quite a bit off from a final form. The interior design is true to concept. Go look at the concept pictures again. I assure you the final product trim, tweeks and colors will be true to concept also. It will look that good. If you've never worked in the auto industry during the development of a vehicle somtimes its hard to grasp. Its like a Jeep thing. ![]() If you have not noticed recently or should I say the last 3 or 4 years GM's production cars are 95 to 98 percent true to concept. Don't expect anything different here. No, not a sunroof. A polycarbonate window that allows you to see the top of the driver...

Re: GM Takes The Camo Off New Camaro!
Oh, and am I the only person who's totally put off by side marker lights that look as though they've been tacked on?
Only the 5mph bumper beat out side marker lights for the Stupidest Thing Required on American Cars award... Detroit fought to get rid of 5mph bumpers and sealed-beam headlights. I wish they'd fight to get ride of the other annoying eyesores. They're as pointless as those stupid SABS reflectors that South Africans had foisted on them until the 1990s. The little white reflectors mounted atop the bumper. All SA cars required these front and rear till about 1993. ![]() I miss the "old" license plates too! The Captiva in that pic has the "new" ones, with the entire province (Eastern Cape) having the "EC" suffix. The "ORX" on the Benz means it was registered in Rouxville, in the Orange Free State. Cape Town cars all had "CA" prefixes. When we were kids, it was fun game while travelling to try identify where passing cars were coming from by their license prefixes...
