GM officials reportedly coyly confirms Camaro Z28... but it isn't coming soon

Wink, Wink: GM officials reportedly coyly confirms Camaro Z28... but it isn't coming soon

According to the well-connected boys over at Camaro5, General Motors will indeed produce a Chevrolet Camaro Z28 after all... and they've even scored some details on the hi-po offering.

According to Camaro5 user Hiney1 who attended a special question and answer session at the Carlisle Nationals this weekend (seen above), a Z28 will arrive after the Camaro Convertible, itself expected in the spring of 2011.

The Z28 will reportedly make use of some sort of high-output LS-based engine (C'mon, guys! You're killing us!), and it will incorporate a hood similar to that of the Bumblebee edition, along with a unique grille, the usual spate of graphics and emblems, and perhaps even a tweaked rear-end. Thanks for the tip, Jay!

They "have" to use this brand/logo.........it is VERY valuable and comes with a very good image. Unlike many psuedo-performance names from the past.
Hopefully the end product will be worthy of the name. The pieces are there to make it so.

Lets just hope GM has decided to build the Z28 despite saying otherwise.

I can wait. The SS is good enough as a placeholder. They should be focused on more important products anyway.

Wow, this is awesome: a "pony car" with a supercharged V8 and a convertible, coming in 2 years. Or, just go down to your Ford store tomorrow....

I'm hoping for an LS7 and magnetic ride control on the Z28.

The article also said that the convertible is not due until Spring 2011. That's two years from now. Come on with it already. Tired of waiting.

You can drive a Z28 right now. It's called the CTS-V. Same powertrain, very similar platforms...maybe even better performance, we'll see...

Will this thing be slotted between the V6 and the SS or will it be the top dog? If so, the price will probably be close to $50K, and that's quite steep (depending on the specs, of course).

Of course they were going to build it. C'mon, did you guys really think GM wouldn't? Why?

Because a couple of anti-govt idiots think the guy who owned a 300C doesn't like horsepower?
