Re: GM May Sell New Mini-Cars to U.S. Buyers

General Motors Corp. said it is giving a higher priority to deciding whether it will bring the next-generation Chevrolet Beat mini car -- a vehicle it sells overseas -- to the U.S. market in the 2012 timeframe.

We always thought we'd do it at some point, but now it obviously enjoys a much higher priority," GM Vice Chairman Bob Lutz wrote in an email.

so Maximum Bob is now going to give a higher priority, not to bring it to the market, but to think about bringing it to the market at some time in the future.

Well done bob for planning to spend more time to think about it!

2012 is too far away, they need it here within a year and a half.

Oil is going to $150+ and gas is at $4.25 and not looking back, yet they still can't decide what in the hell to do....I thought it would be a no-brainier to bring these cars over with the current situation, but I guess I was completely wrong.

Take a look at what has transpired over the last several years concerning market cap, stock price, huge loses, wrong product mix and nothing but flat and out of touch rhetoric along the way and you it seems to all make sense.

Christ, it's almost like they were doing this on purpose...

I agree...at times I can't fathom GM's decisions, which in turn makes their whining about loss of market share irritating. Watch 2012 roll around and they launch a whole new line of giant SUVs instead of the Triplets! And Wagoner has made $100 MILLION in his tenure there? One tenth of a BILLION dollars to preside over the steady steep decline of GM? Nice work if you can get it!

Better set up a committee to develop a new study group to investigate the feasbility of considering the possibility of bringing the Beat to market.

Then after that, send the results to a string of review committees to hone the list of ideas over a three market study period to decide if the concepts should be shown to the public and ask them to vote which one to build.....four years later.
