How about a snippet of the article.
Just posting a link always bugs me...

Yeah, you can't win them all. I really hope the ZR1 is really an all-out Viper beater, with the unnecessary creature comforts removed. The Z06 is the gentlemans sports car... let the ZR1 be the unabashed version.

Re: Edmunds.com: Viper wins over Z06
From slightly afar, the looks of the fronts of these cars are extremely similar. Other than that, I prefer the C6Z's appearance.
To this day, I have still not "bonded" with the look of the C6, still preferring the C5. However, the C6Z with its wider stance, flares and hood, have just enough difference to make the C6 look go from awkward to eye-catcher stunning. Seeing the two side by side in person proves this. Regarding the actual article, I don't doubt a word - with the exception of the skidpad results showing a win for the Viper. All other testers indicate otherwise. Here's the bottom line: I am afraid this is the Viper's last hurrah. Sales have been declining steadily for years and I am worried the Viper will get the axe. They had to do something to get interest again, and the new 600hp engine was their best shot. We'll see in a year whether or not it worked. The new Viper is quite frankly, almost bland. Gone is the utter exitic brutish look of the early years. When the ZR1 debuts, I fear a near stoppage of Viper sales. I hope not, as the Viper has kept GM honest in the performance arena for nearly the last decade and a half. Without a serious competition the Vette itself might have been shelved. |

Re: Edmunds.com: Viper wins over Z06
doesnt 4.1 to 60 seem slow for the vette? oh, wait, it is. car and driver did the same test with a different result
http://www.caranddriver.com/comparis...vette-z06.html viper, 0-60, 3.5 secs. z06, 0-60, 3.7 seconds. thats almost a half second difference from c&d. id still prefer the vette, but there is no denying the viper's cool factor.

Re: Edmunds.com: Viper wins over Z06
I would have expected the Viper to win, given its 95 horsepower advantage over the Z06. Still, can't wait for the ZR1, which should pound down the Dodge to where it belongs - at #2 - again.
![]() Also, it makes me sad to see a test of a LeMans Blue Z06...that color ended with the 2007 model year and it was my favorite color for the Corvette. ![]() |

These are some badass cars.... they'll give a beatdown to any Porsche within double their price tags.

Re: Edmunds.com: Viper wins over Z06
they always compare appples to oranges with these two cars
I'm always amazed how Dodge fans can claim "superiority" over the Vette when the Vette is not even running the same set up. Dodge has more horsepower, more pistions, more liters, and my favorites, is more expensive and gets LESS MPG!!!! If Chevy dropped a V10 in the Vette, the game would be over. Plus the Vette is actually driveable on a trip out of town, unlike the Viper, which I hear beats you to death on long trips. And the Viper looks weak now, not like it did before so something needs to be done to its design - it hasn't aged too well Not the Vette isn't anything that spectular either. It needs an update ASAP too Last edited by camaro_freak : 10-08-2007 at 01:50 PM. |

Re: Edmunds.com: Viper wins over Z06
It's a fair enough review... the Z06 is easier to live with, costs less, and is still a world-beater despite somewhat less all-out performance numbers. The ZR1 will certainly reclaim supremacy.

Many cars that compete in various class of cars run w/ completely different powerplant setups.
