Uggghh! Ugly front end there. They could have done a better job with the "dual port" grille. The rest aint too bad considering what it is at least the rear is conventional and doesent take getting used to.

Re: FoMoCoNews Exclusive: Chinese Epica Gets New Chevy Sedan Face
Commenting the new front end:
Murder Most Horrid Comments on the other issues: Go see the car in person before you say it's "sub-par". Not only does it look good (not in this Chinese version but in the Korean/Euro/Aussie version with nicety wheels and all) and rather "premium", but also the interior is light years ahead of Hyundai or Kia in materials' quality (perhaps the Cee'd and i30 are getting there, but the Sonata and Optima have nothing on it), and the build quality is impressive to say the least. I haven't seen the Malibu or Aura, but I would bet it would at least hold its own against them in interior quality. To name one thing it has over them to start with: rear armrest. The I6 in the Epica was designed by Porsche for Daewoo, so I don't think it is in any way related to the inline engines GM uses in their trucks. It was tuned for even torque delivery accross the RPM range, hence the unimpressive numbers. That said, reviews I've read are rather positive about the delivery of both engines, especially the 2.5. Additionally, the straight-six allows for impressively low NVH. PS. Do note that the pics are from the Chinese-built Epicas, not ones built by GM DAT - that said, I believe they are already of quality at least comparable to the Camry, even if a bit on the conservative side when it comes to design. ![]() ![]() Last edited by Bravada : 10-19-2007 at 07:17 PM. |

The interior looks pretty nice in the pictures to me. I'd have to see it in person to see how it compares to other cars. I can never tell that well from pics. I really can't see this being a good replacement, even temporarily, for a Buick Lacrosse. I know the Lacrosse is outdated but it seems it would hardly be worth it to use this car for only a couple of years. Unless they get a more powerful motor in there people will only be unimpressed by the car even if it has a nicer interior than the Lacrosse. Epsilon II can't get here fast enough and I hope its great.

I agree, the joke is because Audi is doing so well in China, Chevy decide to copy one thing from it, which is the front grille![]() |

Re: Chinese Epica Gets New Chevy Sedan Face
I would say GM should rip off another Chinese car company's face (like they do to all the other auto manufacturers) but even if they did, they would probably just be ripping off their own design that the Chinese company ripped off!!! LOL
